Ok "We update this on Discord" I see that all over the place. As a dev you have a little more ownership of content and presentation at Discord, and that can be a good thing. Discord is (quite) widely used. Another good thing BUT It is not at all universal. It is also not the point of sale. You need to update progress at the point of sale. Put yourself in the shoes of someone browsing Steam. Payday, a few bucks in their pocket. Looking for whatever genre of game. They see a game that looks dead. Dead as ...
