Step 3: open menu
Step 4: Click the "Retire" option.

Everyone who says just 1v1 Venice y'all are lame lol why do you even play Deity if you can't handle it and gotta do cheesy stuff like that to beat it? I regret to inform you that if you did this you did not in fact beat Deity even tho you have a little square on your steam profile that says you did. ''I can't beat Deity so instead of sticking to lower difficulties I will find the cheesiest, most boring way to cheat the game out of the achievement so I can feel better about myself and lie to all my friends telling them LOOK GUYS I BEAT DEITY'' Lol, just stick to emperor little man

like knifeman said, just fight a 1V1 against venice, disable city states, choose a nice big map to get comfy in, then drown that mf-er in units
