This is one of the games that I want to like so bad, but there is too much that pushed me away.

Problems:

BALANCE:

The germans are much better.

There are many things the allies just can't counter, and statistics of match victories exemplifies this. Thus, German wait time is very long because nobody wants to lose with the allies.

PRICE:

Even if the game is on sale the value propostion is very bad. Buying the game is really only buying one quarter of the game. It will take 100 to 120 dollars to get your desired faction and all the commanders you need to be competitive.

PAY TO WIN:

Any game that holds gameplay affecting elements behind a pay wall is pay to win. This game locks all the best commanders behind a paywall, and you must buy them to play as well as someone with them. These commanders almost never drop, but the system is there to give the appearance of a fair game.

COH1 IS BETTER:

pay to win is still in COH1 but it is far less significant. Also, the balance is better, and the value proposition is much better.

No game has ever done what Quake has done for so long. Arguably, the best deathmatch game ever made. If you are getting into it now expect to be matched up against 15 year veterans, and the it takes quite a biut of time to catch up, but along the journey the rewards are exposed.

This a very good game and the best total war game to date. The family tree is back and better than ever. Also, the horde mode is a worthwhile new feature and gives options to the player. The battles are also much improved with adding waypoints by holding shift, burning effects on the defenders morale, and much improved battle artificial intelligence. If you like total war games, I couldn't imagine that it wouldn't be worth it to pick this one up at some point. If you are tempted by total war games, but you have no experience with them. This would be a good one to try. However, you must try easier difficulties at firtst because although this is the best total war game, it is also the hardest. It can be frustrating to watch the computer player burn a settlement to the ground that is indispensible to your progress. However, it can be equally rewarding to take revenge and torch their capital city. Additionally, the system specifications are a little conservative, if you have a low end system, you might want to wait for an upgrade. This game requires quite a bit of horsepower, and the developer admitted that the the highest graphics settings are for computer equipment that doesn't even exist yet.

How this game doesn't get more recognition I'll never understand. This is a game that captures a lot of what older shooters did well, and at the same time embraces enough modern aspects to reallly extend depth and remove any unwanted frustration. The story is surprisingly compeling while not taking itself to seriously. Also, the game has the melee combat sword skills and the bombastic off the wall shooting mechanics and both are equally enjoyable. Not much to complain about with this one.

Despite being very early, this game is still a blast to play. Anyone that loves intense, skilled combat will love this game.

This game is not for weak-spirited. This genre is not about appeasing a mass audience, but insted, making a cult classic. The game is HARD, as it should be. If it wan't hard the tense moments wouldn't feel right. There are problems with the game but they are few and far between, and these trivial issues are far outweighed by the brilliance of the suspense, characerer development, and level design. If you like survival horror games, you don't want to let this one pass you by, You'll miss out on a gem.
