Early Access Review
I read this statement in someone else's review when I was considering my purchase and after playing the game, I really think it holds true... "This is the closest I've come to playing D&D with friends, while playing a video game alone."

The experience isn't perfect yet, there are a few bugs here and there and there is a lot of room for story expansion as the game grows, but I'll be damned if I didn't start really really caring about my characters and the relationships they were forming. It's got a unique style, I loved the random events so much. I've really enjoyed my time with this game so far, and am very much looking forward to playing more in future as the random events and stories are tweaked and expanded.

In my opinion a stunning, beautiful game, as near to perfect as a game could hope to get! It is worth playing just for the gorgeous art alone, this is truly a masterpiece. I so often had to stop just to ogle the scenery! The story, while fairly simple, is similarly beautiful and manages to make a deep connection with the player within the first five minutes. Ori may also be one of the cutest characters I've ever played. :)

I'm not usually a huge fan of platformers, but this is my absolute favourite kind, fast paced and filled with puzzles to solve! Ori and the Blind Forest is part of the Metroidvania subgenre, so if you love finding secrets and exploring a vast interconnected map full of things to find, this one is for you!

The controls are just perfect, they feel incredibly natural and responsive - it is a whole heap of fun to catapault Ori around the world. However, please be aware that this can get very challenging at times - the escape sequences were literally the most intense platforming experience I've ever had, and the game has me clocked at somewhere around 500 deaths in total. However, the fact that I never really minded dying 6 times in a row is a testament to the strength of this game. Even during the challenging parts, I always felt like I was progressing forwards at all times!

Some of the puzzles and world themes seemed almost Zelda-esqe, which I adored. I also love the fact that you control the savepoints, so you can tailor your saves to where you are finding things the most challenging.

Highly recommend this beautiful little game!
