Early Access Review
This game did have a rough launch, I found myself regularly falling through the floor. However, Pocketpair have done an excellent job of fixing bugs, adding free content on a semi-regular basis and initiating crossovers with other indie developers.

As for the game itself, the game doesn't aim for hyper-realism, but the view across the landscapes are surprisingly pretty. The creatures aren't hugely original, leaning into a Pokémon-like art style, but the more recent designs are more inventive. It's the animations that bring the creatures to life, however. Every creature can work at the bases you build, and each one will mine or eat food with a unique animation, which gives them all their own personality. Combat is pretty flexible, with you being free to use your Pals to fight for you, to rely on your own combat skills, or a combination of the two. Pals have unique abilities that can assist you in combat, give them unique combat skills, help out in your base or can be ridden to give you additional mobility across land, sea or air.

Exploration is rewarded in numerous ways, since you can find Pal eggs to hatch, effigies that can boost your Pal-capturing prowess, lore fragments and crafting resources, and trees that bear fruit that can teach your Pals new attacks. In addition recent updates have introduced fishing locations and NPCs that offer quests to find as well.

Base building is a mixed bag, with the structural components of the base being somewhat rudimentary, but there are plenty of decorations and there are many machines that the Pals can use to produce new weapons and items.

I think this is a solid title, and with a little more refinement it could be around for some time. If you like the idea of catching monsters, using their unique skills to build bases, defend against hostile attacks and fight boss battles, it is well worth a look.

I really enjoyed this game. The art style is cute and the writing made me chuckle at several points. It also made me feel vindicated for rummaging through bins in the games I play!

This game is a great addition to the turn-based strategy genre pitting your dedicated group of machine worshipping priests against the deathless Necrons, slumbering mecha-skeletons. The game has a fantastic atmosphere, combining sombre chants with synths that help to draw you into the tomb exploration. The ability to customise your tech priests with new weapons and bionic body parts adds replay value. The graphics are not AAA quality but the game isn't a massive budget title so your mileage may vary. Personally, I found the visuals pleasant enough to look at. This game has a lot to offer for fans of the Warhammer 40,000 setting and newcomersmay also find the game appealing. I'd suggest giving it a go.

This is the best kind of ridiculous. I laughed so hard I nearly passed out. It's a tribute to all of the silliest parts of the 80's cranked up to maximum.
