When I finished Return to the Obra Dinn, I worried I'd never play another game like it. And then I launched Roottrees and blew me away. It really makes me use my brain to make connections and piece things together. I even printed out some physical evidence to better visualize what I was trying to accomplish digitally. Not sure how far through the game I am, but I'm definitely going to be thinking about all of the members of the Roottree family for a long time. If you like detective-y research puzzle games, this is for you. Well done.

This is exactly what I remember from the Wii version many years ago. It isn't the same to use the mouse as the Wiimote, but I had no real issues with it. Game ran great, everything worked as expected.

Diverged from the story periodically to grab a collectible I missed, got all of them relatively easily, only had to google an escape from the room you get the vortex in because I missed that it was a right-click ability, and kept using slipstream by mistake. Not a fault of the game, that's all me.

Only complaint is that it ends abruptly and doesn't have a satisfying conclusion. But, I also bought it on sale for $2 and it was a fine way to pass 2.5 hours on a lazy afternoon.

The art is adorable, the music is pleasant and never got stale. The controls work as advertised, and it's just a fun little game.

Recommended.

If there was an actual strategy to the game, then I'd recommend it. But this is just a wave of a dozen dinosaurs running toward you or a specific waypoint, and you shoot them. The map looks huge, but since the dinosaurs only want to attack the one location, and there's only a minute between waves, and there are upgrades to buy at two very inconveniently-located locations, I'm not sure how anyone is meant to see more of the map.
