Potentially an excellent practical teaching tool for a great many disciplines. I'm rather surprised the education community hasn't tried to use it as such.

Early Access Review
Great atmosphere. Terrible game. There is a lot of work that has been put into the art, the sound design, and the music. I wish I could say the same about the gameplay. It's trying to be Phasmophobia as far as I can tell, and would be a lot creepier than Phasmo if the game functioned at a similar level.

As much a masterpiece as those it echoes.

It's a gorgeous game that hearkens back to late 80's-early 90's style anime, complete with VHS noise and fast forward filters. In the gameplay sense, you're trying to keep ahead of your food, health, suspicion, and sanity loss. To make things difficult, you are almost broke most of the time. To make things weird, you're having dreams and visions of things that may or may not be there--the ones that are there tend to hurt.
The story is eerie and compelling enough to keep players curious, and the branching paths (10 endings, not counting standard game overs) make for a significant amount of play, even if you'll be retreading territory sometimes. Simplified, this game could be defined as resource management with some puzzle dungeons, but they are neither too difficult nor too easy. Some things may not occur to you right away, so save and experiment.
As of 10 hours in I've completed one playthru and gotten a single ending, but I'm still looking because I was rather unsatisfied by my first ending--not through fault of the game, but rather because there were things I did not address in my first run through.
Fair gameplay, perfectly adequate writing, and glorious presentation.

Try. Fail. Try again. Fail again. Fail Better.

It's a bit like programming, but without subroutines. Treat it as an idle game, and you won't feel quite so frustrated when you have to grind up stats.

Yes, it's goofy. Yes, it's when Capcom went full Michael Bay with the Resident Evil series. Yes, it's more full of cheese than a dairy.

It's still a fun game, and it has some of the best developed combat mechanics of the Resident Evil series.

The lighting effects are unparalleled outside of ray tracing, the writing is like a cross between David Lynch and Stephen King with improved word choices, and it remains fun to play long after you've explored it thoroughly.
