The NEW update just broke the game in a big way, especially multiplayer and stability.
Me and my friends were enjoying the game, up until this new update.

What once was great
- The game ran stable without crashes, now not anymore
- The loading screens were fast, now they hang for no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ reason
- The graphics were great, now they've been downgraded and everything looks blurry with artefacts all over the place

Bugs introduced with the new update
- All rankings have been removed
- Main menu hangs after initial startup due to the new EOS and Crossplay integrations
- Loading screen now hangs for ~10s due to the new EOS and Crossplay integrations
- Achievements are now broken and keep on popping up every-time you go to the main menu or load a game
- Receiving achievements which I've never completed (this just blatantly shows incompetence by the devs)
- Loading or joining any multiplayer game is unstable (crashes)
- Graphical glitches due to downgrade of shadows and lighting system (blurry textures and pixels on ultra settings)

Graphical downgrade
- Shadows have been downgraded on the PC version for consoles
- Lighting system have been downgraded on the PC version for consoles
- Textures have been downgraded on the PC version for consoles

I regret buying the additional DLC's right before this update, as the game is clearly no longer playable.
I've refunded all my DLC purchases as I knew I was never going to get to them after this update.

Well ♥♥♥♥ Take-Two for banning mods.
The reason I bought it on PC was for the mods...

TL;DR
I surely recommend this game now after the developers put a ton of work in it since the initial release of War For The Overworld. Most problems during the initial release have been fixed and existing good futures have been enhanced for an even beter experience.

Like all other reviews say, if you're looking for a Dungeon Keeper 2 experience, than this might be the game for you.
The developers of this game have put a ton of work in it to make the performance better and the overall gameplay, by now I can recommend this game without any problem (even for low-end rigs).

Back story
I've backed this game in early access on steam and have enjoyed it during the early access period most of the time. Since the launch I've started playing the game again and had, like a lot of other people, problems with campaign breaking bugs. At a point, it even felt like the release was more buggy and glitched than the early access version what actually made me sad seeing a great concept going getting thrown away. (I've been here before with Castle Story)

But one of the main differences was that after a few days I noticed that the devs were putting out daily patches, what made me happy to see them putting effort in fixing it during the weekend. I've never played dungeon keeper (I've seen a lot of game play and play troughs about DK) but I enjoy the game a hell of a lot despite the current bugs.

Positive
  • Great art style
  • Concept has been worked out great (Dungeon Keeper style with adding their own twist to it)
  • Challenging campaign
  • Lots of variety character and strategy wise
  • Great voice acting and dialogues
  • Gameplay
  • The long awaited Map Editor
  • Steam Community workshop provides you with unlimited maps (comes along with the Map Editor)

Negative
  • Bugs and glitches like mentioned before Most game/gameplay breaking bugs are fixed
  • Unfinished multiplayer (will be completed later on) Has a nice interface now (I didn't test the multiplayer myself)
  • Missing information about buildings and characters (they get explained in the campaign) They've listened to the community and updated the information banner

I will update this review while the game keeps changing

EDIT: Notification about game/gameplay bugs being fixed
EDIT2: Version 1.1 update changes
EDIT3: Version 1.3 update changes

UPDATED 2017-08-22

After giving up hope on this game a few years back, I decided to give it another try when I noticed the game had been released.
Unfortunately, this game is still crap after it's release and a few years went by.

Positive
  • The performance is a lot better since early access
  • Main menu redesign

Negative
  • The AI is still terrible and buggy
  • You cannot speed up the game
  • Content is very basic and you don't have many build options
  • Gameplay is still the same as a few years back (nothing added)

This game is the reason why I'm sceptic about other early access games.

ORIGINAL

DO NOT BUY THIS GAME!

And here is why:

Backstory
I supported them on kickstarter when it became available and have followed their progress for a long time now.
What I see now just keeps disappointing me and I already lost hope in this "chaos" of a project. Every time I saw steam updating this game I played it for a bit but didn't see any game changes. The only thing I see every time is the hopeless same mess again and again, game start lagging (and I have a pretty high spec system), bricktrons getting stuck, glitches that make resources unavailable, etc.

Positive
  • Potential

That's it. I can't say anything good about this game even if I want to and still hope I will be able to.

Negative
  • Performance (after 3 years it normally must have been fixed)
  • Content (EDIT: Updates are coming in again, but the content is still the same unfortunately)
  • Gameplay (is their even any gameplay except for glitches and bugs that make the game unplayable - remember we are 3 years after the kickstarter)
  • Development (are they even doing anything, or just spending or money ?!) EDIT: They are updating the game again, after 3 years of doing nothing
  • AI (They get stuck most of the time, but they're working on it now since of December 2014)

These developers made me skeptical about Early Access and now got me even to the point I don't buy anything in Early Access unless it's almost finished or the developers provide weekly updates and detailed information what Sauropod promised but never delivered. This concept was great and I believed in it, but Sauropod just flushed it down the toilet.

I will update my review if they ever bring something out that drastically changes the game. (But I don't think this is going to happen after 3 years)

EDIT: some grammatical fixes and notices about the game being updated again.

This is a zombie game were I was looking for a long time ago.
It needs a little bit of modding for better graphics and fixes, but for the rest it is fine and a lot of fun to play.
