Personally not being into much of turn-based games, this one is a nice pickup. Can play it anytime, has a save function so can easily get deep into a run without worrying about having to finish it in one session.

Don't know if it's worth the $20, but pick it up on sale and have a ball!

It's a decent survivors game, with a spin on inventory and loot choices. Though it is far from perfect. Some skills are useless, some combat telegraph on the EASIEST difficulty is about next to impossible to dodge on a couple mobs and bosses, but on harder difficulties isn't much of an issue... almost completely backwards. Some collision issues I have came across in regards to shrines and trees, similar to what Soulstone Survivors has issues with in basically wasting dash charges and getting nuked.

Overall though, it's been a fun game but it still needs work... will be paying attention as new updates are released.

Meh... it quickly turns into a grindfest. The combat really isn't that great, the auto-attack is kind of irritating when using certain skills as it disables it and you have to re-enable it constantly.

It has potential, but it needs work.

This DLC adds WAY too much RNG... it causes much more difficulty aiming for specific builds because of the massive pool of items that this brings. There's basically unlimited rerolls and such, but there are no "item ban" objects, which would be very useful when getting into the heart of a run.

Just stick with the base game and avoid some frustration until this gets addressed. Base game is very enjoyable.

I tried to get used to it, it looks to be a nice game but I cannot stand the controls... slow, clunky, unresponsive. Gradually lost interest; don't really ever feel one with the character.

Better than Risk of Rain, and with adorable little crabs.

For a survivor game, it's basic versus most of the other ones out there. However, for the price it's a bargain. Been enjoying it, will be playing it through.

Updated Review 10-12-2024::

Coming back to it after 7 months, a lot has been added and changed; definitally fun and great. Still, the only complaint I really have about it is the map size yet...

Updated Review 2-27-2024:

It's still a fun game, but caveat is Early Access; more issues become prevalent in Haz 4 and 5. Certain weapons are worthless on these difficulties, and REALLY rely on the resupply pod to kill elites/dreadnought bosses... or else the bugs will overwhelm; the balance isn't quite there yet and feel pretty weak. Plus with lack of mission variety can start to get a tad boring. and there's a few of run-killing bugs (pun intended) that force to close the game or have to restart... really a buzzkill. I feel like the map/cave size is relatively small for what ensues for how vast Hoxxes really is... I get the whole point of getting done as fast as possible, but things get extremely cramped on higher Hazards where death is inevitable. Plus with some game stuttering issues regardless what's going on, whether I have other apps running in the background (OBS, discord steamings, etc) or nothing else at all there still is stutter spikes.

For pricepoint of the game, it's decent for what you currently get and more than likely what is about to be released over the next year as things improve and new content added... but currently I won't recommend it until some of these bugs get fixed, some balancing addressed, along with a little more content... some of this can drive some players away and maybe never return.

As with other type survivor games (listed below in my first initial review of this game), they can be challenging but on higher difficulties you can feel strong at the same time while fighting in a tough situation where you can still easily die if making wrong decision.

Initial Review: Game launch

Is Mission Control still running missions?

Yes.

10/10

For other survivor type games, this seems far more fast paced along with ability to destroy terrain makes movement far more important. Each class feels completely different to play. Still only early access, and more improvements and additions will be made, this is going to be one of my favorite games to play any time. If they could possibly implement a Coop of this game eventually, this can be an absolute coop gem.

If wanting other types of survivor games, list as follows:

Halls of Torment
Tiny Rouges
Vampire Survivors
Soulstone Survivors

It's like a cross between Binding of Isaac and Halls of Torment... there's lot of different playstyles and upgrades. I feel the monster and boss fights are balanced with a stamina/dodge feature but takes plenty of time to recharge to make a player conserve till the very last second.

Very fun little game, will be playing the heck out of it.
