As a long time fan of Bethesda games for their long term playability and modding support I can safely say this is almost exactly the game I was expecting from Bethesda. It's certain to disappoint people that were expecting seamless travel or No Man's Sky level of exploration, but as a game built on the latest version of their creation engine it has all the normal limitations I've come to associate with Bethesda titles. Travel is clunky and there are menus up the wazoo, but behind all of that is a fun RPG with a mechanic for a mobile home base (your customizable spaceship), a much improved outpost system (definitely based on Fallout 4), and a huge massive gameplay area to fill with modded content over the next decade. There are limitations and performance isn't the best at the moment, but none of their other games were particularly performant at luanch and patches never made huge dents in that, instead hardware just got better and we forgot about how bad the other games were at launch.

Above all else this game takes me back to a time when I was younger and I can revel in the feeling of being awed at the grand scope and the future of modding this giant Bethesda sandbox set in space!

I wish I could say ARK was a good game that was just misunderstood. But the developers are actively interested in destroying their creation with rent seeking behavior. It's almost like they're beating themselves up for releasing a PC game when what they really wanted was an ATM they could just withdraw money from.

- They released the first paid DLC for the game while it was in early access
- They continued to release paid DLC while leaving the game in early access
- They're now converting the game to Unreal Engine 5 and charging full price even if you own the original
- They were going to make everyone buy the DLC again (same content as the original UE 4 game) to use it with the updated game
- They've now raised the price of the "remaster" to $60 and include the DLC but have removed ARK 2 from the package.

Don't give these people your money, you're just an ATM to them and they don't care about your enjoyment or the community around this game.

An almost perfect experience on the Steam Deck out of the box. Some early resolution issues may still affect text, the solution was to run the game at 1080p and let the deck downsample it to the native resolution.

This is the third time I've played the game, and having it in a portable format like Persona 4 Golden on the PS Vita is the definitive way to play the game.

This is a solid launch for an X series game. I haven't spent much time in game, but so far I've restarted twice due to picking a fight with someone who decided it was easier to kill me, and then slamming into a station in travel mode. This game might run on the same engine as XR, and sometimes that shows in regards to performance. But this is the X game I was hoping for when XR launched, and I am happy to say Egosoft have earned my respect for bringing classic X Series gameplay back.

With the new Endless mode, this is a game that just keeps giving. Being able to choose the pace of gameplay lets me keep multiple saves going at a time, and when the brutal mode has me down, I can switch back to a serenity game and just enjoy providing for my happy citizens.

Without a doubt, the true successor to the 2d pixel adventure genre. Terraria whets your appetite, and Starbound fulfills your deepest desires to move off world and carve a name for yourself in a galaxy.
