It feels crazy that true dungeon crawler with friends is such a rare category of game, and Barony does it so well. Its brutal, you gotta learn a lot of things the hard way but it feels so fun when you realize all the crazy tricks. Maybe the only negative I could say is that when you get to the later game you can hit critical mass really hard and just annihilate the back half of the game, but that is also kinda fun in its own right. It did in fact take me 66 hours to actually beat the game which is awesome.

I played 12 hours the first day I got this this game, its got the sauce

I crashed out after being dead for 30 minutes and people min-maxing the first extract

Honestly this game is just loads of fun, it's not the longest game but man do I enjoy just grinding levels because the base gameplay is so good

Pros:

Lots of deck variety
Amazing style
Cheating is the core mechanic which is fun

Cons:

Sometimes my brain short circuits playing this game

This game rules, it has so much charm! Hard not to get for 5 bucks if you like just chilling and fishing as cute animal people

I love Blood Bowl and it's a shame that I just can't love this game yet. I really do believe a good product is in here but the issues I am having:


-the responsiveness of units feels kinda chunky which sucks when you are on a timer. Felt better in BB2
-the starting roster feels a bit saturated with samey teams. Like seriously we did not need launch old world alliance and the chaos renegade these should have been swapped with lizardmen and necromantic horror. Like I really feel like we got renegades and alliance on launch because there is only one unit unique to those teams combined (the treeman). I get that black orc and imperial nobility are new and orc and human should be in a normal launch.
-The generic match making queue being random matches and not round robin means that on my first match I ran into a guy with a 1700 team against my fresh roster which isn't the most fun TBH
-[edited in] Not sure how I forgot that you need to open and close certain menus to get all the ui elements to show up.


I see no reason to play this game over bloodbowl 2 until it is more complete, cause I like the new ruleset for this game but the issues are too extensive. Also feels kinda ♥♥♥♥ that I will need to earn teams that I already bought in the previous game (but I guess I am spoiled from total war warhammer). Like why did the team delay the game only for a year to then release it in this state. I would have been so much happier if you guys just delayed the game again.

I will come back to this game eventually cause I know they can fix it, blood bowl 2 wasn't perfect on launch.

You know how when you read choose your own adventure books you would read the bad result and just flip back. This games is kinda just built on that concept it's really neat. Adorable art with a fun story, it's hard not to love.
