Paid 250 for this game. I didn't play much of the alpha and had hoped EA would help finish up development and push it closer to a decent beta that attracted more players. I won't be getting a refund, but I hope all the folks who paid for it on Steam do.

Game has been continuously updated and is more than just a peen-slider simulator. Yes, it has a slider that allows you to enhance your dangling bits, the game goes way beyond that. In a world that is full of survival games and building games, this is a neat take. I am not a huge fan of Conan, but I remember growing up with Arnold smashing folks as a mighty barbarian. The mythology of the game is pretty freaky and your god choice can impact how you play to a certain extent.

Hack, slash and dangle your way to victory.

You will run into the normal stuff. You will need to eat, drink and build/craft items constantly. You will get sick of farming stuff and dragging it back to where you can actually use it, but it is totally worth it. If you have ever played a similar game, then you will very likely quickly get the hang of this. Capturing slaves, though... that takes some getting use to. The PvE elements are pretty standard, but interesting because they are based on this world. The game gets a bit more depth once you dive in PvP, but at the end of the day it follows the same calculation of all PvP: craft better gear, make better weapons, find person, beat them to death.

No, really. Try it out. Play it. The community is rather small these days, but the game is super fun and keeps getting updates to polish it and add stuff.

Hands down one of the best free MMOs I have ever played.

The game is not the most gorgeous, but it looks good. The game is not incredibly complex, but it has an intricate balance. I really enjoyed my time in the game... and even outside of it.

The dynamic of playing the game from a browser with my companions is brilliant. The fact that I can craft from the same browser is amazing! If they had an app that did something similar, I'd almost pay a small monthly fee for it.

The companion system by itself is actually pretty awesome. Someone to hang out with you and support or tank or fill whatever gap you have is pretty awesome. While some of them could stand to be a little better, they are pretty good overall and the ones at the beginning of the game are very helpful.

My favorite part, however, is the user created content. The ability to run a "dungeon" created by another player is amazing. I've run some good ones and bad ones, but that feature is awesome! When I say dungeon, it does it a bit of dis-service. It is more like an entire zone built with encounters, buildings, bosses and loot tables that plays out as a full quest or mission. Some of them can be done in 10 or 20 minutes, while others may take more than hour. The difficulty is also variable.

The micro-transactions for this game can get pricey, but I didn't worry too much about them. They have some interesting packs and people who plan to invest a lot of time can easily wait until a sale and get a great deal. IMO, the game is good enough to at least invest a little bit.

It started out awesome, but ended up being one of the hugest wastes of time ever.

I've never played Minecraft, but a lot of people tell me that it sounds similar when I explain the game. To me it was a huge real-life LEGO's play session. I built a lot of cool stuff and I spent a whole bunch of time investing in things that only I could possibly care about, but in the end it got all smashed up by someone else when I wasn't attending to it.

The PvE version of the game is incredibly boring, but quite rewarding in terms of taming and building. The PvP portion is full of trolls and griefers and is a miserable experience unless you get to be one of these bullies. The unofficial servers are awkward. Some are fairly stable, but attract cheaters, while others are unstable and wipe, rollback or disappear from one day to the next. Don't even get me started on the unplayable lag of SOTF.

Great idea and concept. The execution is even good, but alphas will be alphas. Surely in the next 6-12 months it'll be a finished and working product, but at that time I'm not sure what the playerbase will look like.
