Fretless loves music, it really is that simple.

Following the 'world of' Rob Scallon this fun, light (without feeling childishly easy) RPG has you running through beautiful and diverse biomes, battling musical instrument hybrid creatures (damn those bellsnails!) and building up a roster of attacks for your ever trusty and customizable instrument-weapons.

The music is wonderful, the characters and art style are gorgeous and in general is a genuine heart-felt love of old school RPGs and musical expression.

Pretentious? Maybe. Thought provoking? Definitely.
The Talos Principal gives players a simple task, solve the puzzle and collect the Sigil (block)
The iterative procession of puzzles, the additional tools and well designed, historically themed environments give this game pace and add resilience to the playability.

On top of all this, as you continue on your Sigil collection - which in turn are used on further puzzles - you are confronted with a fundamental, existential conundrum: follow in faith or rebel for freedom.

A truly wonderful and deep puzzle game in the vein of Portal and The witness.

Part card battler, part dating sim, part turn based tactics.
It is wild how Firaxis put all these things together and pulled it off to such a thoroughly enjoyable extent.
Every battle was fun to the point where I was upset I couldn't take on more than one each in-game day.

All the elements of the game (even though at first may not seem it) become important, you may not be in for befriending the various avengers and x-men but if you want to play exclusive battles with them its in your best interest.

Some of the characters are a bit clunky while others are charming and endearing to the point of getting the player to genuinely care about their plight.

It's a real shame this wasn't the initial smash the industry demands these days, as a sequel or more like it would definitely be welcome, at least we have all those amzing expansions and DLC's.

An interesting 'not-quite' follow-up to the Arkham trilogy.

While this has most of the action and gameplay elements you'd expect from Rocksteady's Arkham games, this WB sophomore (following their work on the all round enjoyable Arkham Origins) does its best to inject new life into the spiritual franchise.

Investigations, hideouts and street brawls are all in here and as fun as you remember, but despite being offered all four members of the bat family you'll find little reason to change out between them.

Movement abilities can be a little clunky, and the fast travel is not worth the loading times but the city is glorious and loaded with tasks. Some of the street level missions become samey but the large set-pieces at the end of the Harley / Clayface / Freeze missions are as good as anything the Arkham games offered.

If you like the Arkham series and want a little bit more, this is more than worth your time.
