Inscryption overall is a beautiful game and a love letter to good card games. That being said, even if you are unfamiliar with card games, it is very easy to pick up and does a good job explaining to the player its rules. It packs a lot of fun into a little cabin and makes navigating the world it has created for you to enjoy delightful and rewarding, and definitely has replay value. All in all, I would recommend this game to anyone.

The rest of this review contains spoilers for the main game.
I love the first part of this game, contained within Leshy's cabin. I think the cabin part alone makes this game worth its money and enjoyable to just replay this portion of the game. However, as I progressed through the main story, I found myself wanting to just go back to playing card games with grandpa. I love the characters I met, for the most part. I didn't find the incorporation of real world elements interesting or compelling, though I think they were acted and done very well, I just felt they didn't add anything to the rest of the game. If anything, they took me out of the dire feeling of having to rip out my teeth and eyes just to tip the scales in a heated battle of cards. The 3rd part of the game, p03's game, was particularly uninteresting. I understand that even the game treats this segment as p03 not being a good dungeon-master and focused entirely on the card element, but... I still have to PLAY the game. I am very tired of a game excusing its bad gameplay on a character who built it for you in-universe... I want to play something compelling and feel like I'm not slogging through it. When this game takes you away from a very delightful and serious opening and then continuously throws you two less fun games to sit through to understand it entirely... it's sad. I think they definitely could have done this without taking away what was appealing about the first segment of the game. Continually, I replay this game, and think it is worth it for the beginning, but do not stray away from the main game with Leshy, and don't intend to outside getting achievements I missed in my first run. I find myself just wanting more of the cabin, wanting more of a challenging endless-type run of Leshy's game. It's been hinted at that they will be adding more content to this game ... I hope it expands on the card masters whose games we didn't get to play through very much of, as well as more content to the first segment of this game.

The ARG content itself is definitely disappointing, lackluster and definitely ... not worth what it is. I would suggest staying away from it entirely and simply enjoying the rest of the game, or looking at the overview of it and watching the penultimate video. It's better that way.
