Early Access Review
I really liked the first game, and gotta say I love the second one even more after just playing it for the first time. It has a great feel to it and it's a whole lot of fun seeing all the new stuff they added. Not much in the general gameplay loop will change in a sequel like this so it was nice seeing new characters, some well needed lore, a better unlock progression and I really liked what direction they went with the art styles.

It also improved on what the first game did well as they added new unique choices at the end of acts and during runs, a bunch of new bosses, enemies, events, cards and relics which make this a really nice upgrade of the first game in every way possible.

Once you start there's no going back.

This means total commitment, once you begin the path there is no leaving the path.

Are you sure you are ready for that, I mean, really ready?

I will never forget the day I first played this game on PS3, the day of release, and I couldn't stop till I'd flown round the whole map in a Buzzard I stole from the Merryweather docks discovering everything there was to see. Single player's story, heists, missions and characters are probably the best you'll see from Rockstar (together with RDR2) and in the free-roam open world games genre. No other game has driven me to complete the story as much as this game has and for that I'll always cherish GTA 5.

However, considering it's closing in on 10 years since release and we're still being hand-fed GTA Online exclusive DLC after DLC that are the only thing that keeps this game going (other than FiveM) I can't help but feel saddened by the state online is continuously left in. It's a great experience if you like either; being game-crashed by someone you pissed off, obliterated by god-mode cheaters or swarmed by in my opinion one of the worst things Rockstar has created: Mk.II Oppressors. I've played quite a bit of online and I can't recall being in a public lobby without either a cheater, modder or someone able and willing to boot you off in there (first few days after a big update excluded). It's been so bad in fact that when reporting one of these cheaters they were somehow able to see the report I've made, proceeded to call me out on it and decided to harass me over it. They tracked and joined my lobbies and crashed my game at least 5 times over a period of a few days. It's baffles me that someone with nothing other than ill intent and a mod menu can have that much power in a multiplayer game and there's nothing normal players can do about it as reporting is useless, and in my case only made me a target.

After all these years you're still just better off playing in private sessions which don't come as near as economically rewarding as public lobbies sadly, and that really sucks considering how Rockstar has managed to consistently over-price each and every update's DLC and ruin the in-game economy in the process. This makes the grind even more repetitive and can quickly seem like a second job till the point you slowly realize it's not really worth it, even for the cool new businesses and cars. It can be really fun with friends and you'll quickly be off doing the most obscure things imaginable but trust me, you won't be finding any fun in public lobbies as many of them to this day are filled with "modded" accounts who've never truly played Online the way it was meant just to cheat and or grief.

CarX is an amazing arcade-like drift game, with endless customization and modification options and rather realistic recreations of real cars. A terribly uncensored racist cesspool of a chat once you first meet the main menu might put you off but, just join any lobby and you'll be met with pretty chill people just looking to slide.

Although I'm glad to see some Cyberpatches finally being rolled out and key issues being addressed it still has quite a long way ahead of itself in order be considered anywhere near polished. I'd still recommend getting it on sale (around 50%).

Must have for any car enthusiast... or person who likes simulating cars getting destroyed in the most violent of ways. BeamMP is a great mod to pick up if you want to play with friends.
