Download ANY other emulator. Anyone who tells you that RA is fine as long as you're computer savvy is lying to you. You have to hold the program's hand and customize literally every single option because the devs didn't have the sense to make the preset options be even remotely usable. I wasted 2 hours trying to get a single PS5 controller to connect and it still doesn't even work right. I switched over to the steam version just as a last ditch try to fix it but instead I'll just warn y'all to never download this garbage.

It was genuinely easier to have 6 different emulators than it was to use this single program. I promise you it's not worth having all your games in the same place when you have to use this trash.

I want to love this game so badly but it feels like it was designed maliciously, almost like they hate the player: here's a quick example.

Say you're having a bad run. Your first weapon wasn't great. You missed a bonus reward from not getting hit because the hole you jumped down had spikes at the bottom that you couldn't possibly tell were there. You barely scraped by and made it to a shop. You FINALLY found a good weapon. This should be the turning point, but nah. The shopkeeper was a mimic. It's as hard as a full fledged boss fight and you're already having a bad run so now you die.

Stuff like this happens all the time in this game, and it just wears you down. Every time I felt like I was having fun with the game something would happen that just ruined my run and felt strangely cheap and out of my control. There are 5 difficulty levels and after winning my first few runs and upping it to the first new difficulty, I felt like I hit another brick wall and it would take me another 20 hours to win another run. Progression is so slow and it feels like a chore to play sometimes.

After playing for 50 hours and getting all the achievements, I'm super torn on whether to recommend this game. On the plus side, it's super cute and fun, with a lot of content for such a cheap game. It's different every time and there are lots of fun builds to run. On the minus side, it's balance is absolutely horrendous. You can very easily get fights that are straight up unwinnable due to rng, even if you took all of the best options for your deck. Getting the 3 winstreak achievement can be extremely frustrating when you have an amazing deck going and some tanky enemy spawns in with thorns that one shot your leader and you have to attack it. Honestly if they could tone down thorns and tweak one fight in particular (involving thorns and aimless), I would highly recommend this game. As of now it can get incredibly frustrating and I found myself rage quitting way more often than I should be if I want to recommend a game.

Early Access Review
It's a roguelike. Maybe the most straightforward roguelike we've ever had? I absolutely love it. There's no backtracking, no weird secrets you have to pay attention to, just gameplay. And the gameplay is solid and pretty balanced as far as I can tell. Once you get all of the unlocks I feel like *almost* every run is winnable, which is rare for a roguelike. I say almost because I've noticed melee seems quite underpowered. The only times I've felt like I couldn't win was when I tried to spec around melee. I've won a few runs with melee but even the melee based classes feel better with a bow or a staff, which cuts out a bit of gameplay variety. Overall though this is a wonderful little game with tons of content for the price. I spent 21 hours just getting all the achievements and there's still more for me to do. Highly recommend for any bullet hell fan, even if you aren't a traditional roguelike player.

This game does a great job of pulling you in and if you're the type of gamer who has a "I won't let the game beat me" attitude, you'll be playing for hours on end. Compared to other roguelikes it does get outclassed in my opinion though. It has much worse balance and some things are literally only in the game to frustrate you, particularly in the afterbirth plus expansion. If you're just wanting to try it out, I'd get the vanilla game and afterbirth. Afterbirth+ is mostly just for the massochist who wants more challenge and pain. It's a great game to introduce you to the genre, and in particular is responsible for my addiction to gungeon and slay the spire, but it does have its flaws. I can't really say much considering I spent 400 hours getting 100% and another 300 just playing though.

Dark Souls...Where to begin. Such a fantastic game, and probably my favorite of all time. I'll try to cover everything worth mentioning in this short review.

Notes on the PC version: I know a lot of people have been dissing the PC version, but after doing a bit of modification, it is easily better than the console version. Do yourself a favor and grab Dark Souls Fix. It takes a minute to install and makes the game much better. With a good enough PC, you'll see the framerate issues from the console version dissappear, and you'll have a higher resolution version to play. Be sure to grab a controller for this game, it was definitely made to be played with one.

Gameplay: This game is nearly flawless. The gameplay is, hands-down, the best I have ever experienced. It is simple on the face, but incredibly deep and challenging to fully master, and everything has its place. Fast weapons deal out quick damage, while slow ones stun enemies and do large amounts per hit. Do not try playing this with a mouse and keyboard, you'll just have a terrible time. Unlike demon's souls, you get a limited number of healing items, which are replenished when you get to a bonfire, which are the games checkpoints. Resting at a bonfire respawns all of the enemies though, so you can't simply trial and error your way through the game.

Graphics: The graphics are pretty, but nothing incredible, which is fine. The art style is unique and refreshing, and armor, weapons, and animations are top-notch. The framerate is capped at 30 even on PC, but it doesn't affect the slower-paced gameplay as much. It is poorly optimized on PC though, so make sure you have a beefy enough rig if you want to avoid framerate drops.

Difficulty: Obviously the difficulty will come into question, but don't let it turn you off if you don't normally like difficult games. The game is unforgiving, but highly rewarding. It rewards players for thinking smart and learning from mistakes. It is one of the most satisfying games to play, ever. The feeling of accomplishment you get after finding a new weapon, getting to the next bonfire, or beat a boss that's been hard for you, is unmatched by any other game. The game rarely steps over the line and punishes you for things that aren't your fault. These locations are frustrating, but can always be overcome by playing smart and trying new strategies.

Overall: I highly recommend this game to anyone seeking a challenge, or simply seeking a game that doesn't hold your hand, and rewards you for mastering its amazing gameplay.
