Crimson Desert is a game best approached with the expectation that progress isn't instantaneous. It is a beautiful, deliberate experience that practically begs you to take your time. If you’re rushing for constant, cheap dopamine hits, this isn't for you. But if you want a steady burn in a massive, living world filled with creative, physics-based interactions, dive in.

The attention to detail is remarkable for a world this size. You can freeze water to cross it, dip arrows in fire to ignite distant targets, or wait for the rain to amplify your lightning AOE. The environments are highly destructive, and the game consistently rewards players who think outside the box.

The game won't hold your hand on everything though, much like its sibling Black Desert, your own ability and knowledge are part of the game mechanics in their own right. Kliff learns many skills by literally watching NPCs or bosses perform them.

Ultimately, Crimson Desert isn't a game you simply beat, it’s a world you inhabit. It displays that sometimes, the best way to move forward is by taking your time.

Look, this game's a masterpiece. I wasn't sure what to expect, but from reviews I could clearly see this was something special so I decided I'd buy it and give it a try. The game is incredibly cinematic and has beautiful environments that remind me of Elden Ring. The music is beautiful, intentional and sets the tone for the world you're in, and the epic adventure you're on. Then there's the narrative, characters, stories, and humor which hits just right. It's well crafted, and not full of filler. This whole thing has honestly been such a thoughtful creation.

I'm really enjoying it so far and if you're reading this without owning the game, I think you should give yourself the chance to as well.

Improves on the last in a plethora of ways. Good fun so far. It's also really well optimized, a rarity these days.

This studio has been through a lot and still delivered such an exceptional game. The world is incredibly immersive. Nothing that is wrong can’t be fixed; and with some tuning and fixes to their a-life system, which is having launch issues, the game will really take its identity.

I can’t imagine you’ll find more motivated devs considering their circumstances. Stalker should only get better from here.

A lot more fun than D4, and more accessible than POE. Gameplay feels good and engaging. There's quality of life here that's lacking in other games and systems that makes sense without being convoluted. It's Goldilocks and in just my first 30 hours I've had a more fun start in this game than I remember from either of the two games above. I'm excited to see where Last Epoch goes in the future, but for now there's a lot to enjoy at present.

Overall Starfield is fun game with a lot of potential. My main gripe is how annoyingly PG13 the game is, to the point of being immersion breaking and often not making any narrative sense. I wasn't expecting anything like a Cyberpunk 2077, but this has been more tame than every prior title they've released to the point of noticing it be a detriment to the narrative and gameplay experience.

It's a hard RPG to play a "role" in aside from what the main story gives, and at some point you'll see just how bottle-necked, counterintuitive, unrewarding or even punishing the game can be if you want to do something that should make perfect sense to do. Common RP themes present throughout the game world are effectively just ideas and practically don't work at all if a player wants to play them out; and even outpost building, a big gameplay feature, is an incredibly dumbed-down version of FO4, and currently doesn't serve much of a purpose.

Starfield while having it's own strengths is a hard step down from the RPG elements of something so recent like BG3, and its attempts at anything "dark" like Neon, or the Crimson Fleet are quickly dismissed when experienced.

I hope mods and further development unlock the potential there is for such a big canvas this game has, but that's going to take some time.

Early Access Review
If I can get this many hours of enjoyment from an early access, with a smidgen of the content of the release version, recommending this is a no-brainer.

Avalanche made a game worth every dollar. The story and way it's presented is fun an engaging. The world looks great, and the amount of detail put into Hogwarts is pretty spectacular. This is an easy recommendation. I look forward to seeing this IP expanded on, and refined. I hope there is plenty of DLC because I'm really enjoying this world.

I hope we get to see more RP elements added, some dynamic content, and mod support. This world has a lot of potential.

Skeptical at first, since I tend to enjoy being more casual now days, but wow... Elden Ring beat me up, spit me out, and has me enamored with it. You get the hang of things relatively quickly, and the amount of well crafted content is unbelievable. There are always new discoveries, and secrets that shock you and a million ways to have fun here. This game is hard to put down.

Don't even get me started on how much lore this world has. If you decide to learn about it, you'll have even more appreciation for something you'd already hold high praise for.

...If you're on the fence, just do it. Watch a few YouTube videos to help you get on your feet, or go in blind. Either way, the world of Elden Ring is a masterpiece.
