I pity the lore fans who apparently got ♥♥♥♥♥♥ over by this expansion but I think we've hit a point where I'm so invested in this stupid ass game that I genuinely see no problems other than all the classics we get when launching a map. I have hit maximum cope. The more ASA, the better. Ark 2 is going to be a different genre, they should keep delaying it so I can copemaxx with Ascended.

Jokes aside, probably worth picking up once they fix performance, overspawning, etc... you do NOT want to try to tame a bat when there's 80 of them on the ceiling at once

Edge of Fate itself is great. The current state of the game with all of the overhauls Edge of Fate brought... not as much so. If you're buying this to play the campaign and raid, then you'll be happy. If you're buying this and associating all the changes to D2 with it... then yeah, you're gonna hate it.

i missed my wife. my wife is back. thank you bungie for more savathun, now i am ready for a worse day 1 experience than vow

OKAY UPDATE, story finished and actual compliments here now! The Final Shape is an incredible expansion that I think anyone, both new and old to the Destiny universe, can enjoy. I started playing around Lightfall, and even then the emotional impact this conclusion had on me was immense. The character interactions, the design of the missions to reuse everything we've learnt over the past 10 years, the intense amounts of body horror scattered across the whole DLC that feels out of line with Destiny 2 but somehow fits....

I should also mention that Salvation's Edge has officially taken the crown as the longest world's first raid, clocking in at around 15 minutes over the former champion of Last Wish, which was a massive outlier. It took about 19 hours for one team to beat it, and every other contest clear took at least over 24 hours. I did not have a good team and did not make it past 2nd, but the difficulty and mechanic complexity is so refreshing after Root of Nightmares and Crota's End. This expansion gets a 10/10 from me for the raid alone - and there's so many more 10/10s to find in this expansion. You should absolutely purchase the Final Shape and experience this all for yourself.

Early Access Review
I love ARK. Almost 5k hours on the original game, and I was happy to give this one a chance.
However, we deal with daily crashes on both official and unofficial due to everyone being forced to use Nitrado as their server host. So many bugs that weren't even in the original ARK have surfaced, and by god, they can be annoying. I am by no means expecting an ARK game to be stable, but we should not have had dinosaurs falling through the ground if you rode them for the first 2-3 weeks.
They recently revealed their new release plan. Originally planned for launch, and then Christmas, Scorched Earth has now been delayed until March. The most recent official map for Evolved, Fjordur, is not coming until October 2025. While almost two years without Gen2 again sounds really nice, DLCs introduced so many QoL items and dinos that it's hard to tolerate just the island. So many useful things like net projectiles, gliders, chainsaws, mining drills, or tek upgrades for some of the simplest items aren't accessible anymore. Half the creatures have been cut from the game for now, including the ever essential wyvern, which I genuinely cannot imagine ARK without anymore. And I don't even like wyverns that much personally! The fact that they're introducing Cryopods in a few weeks instead of waiting till Extinction really proves how awful the lack of strong creatures that can get across the map quickly or fliers that can pick up bigger creatures is.
Honestly, once Scorched releases, I think this game will be worth it. The Center and Aberration are supposed to release in the following months, and Aberration was the best paid DLC ARK ever got by a long shot. Once we have more maps and optimization, I definitely think it'll be as fun as the original game, and a worthy successor with all it's own QoL additions. But until then, I would just purchase the much cheaper Evolved and find a nice unofficial server to chill on, where you can experience the finished game.
