“In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war” and a few too many bugs.

As of the end of chapter 1, the game was a lot of fun (with maybe a bit too much combat-focus but that's expected from 40k) with opportunities to tweak your team according to your play-style and good lore tips for the newbies. Perhaps it's somewhat slow on the beginning when you only got 3-4 characters but as CRPGs can already be a little overwhelming to newcomers they make sure you get the basics before giving you new toys to play with.

The first chapter had only a few bugs for me like servitors on the bridge with solid color textures, and only once a game-breaking one where, after an attack of opportunity slowing the camera, kept it slowed down for the next enemy attack and then the camera was stuck there where I couldn't do a thing even when skipping my turn entirely. Luckily after alt-tabbing back and forth it was gone so I didn't need to restart combat. Overall an acceptable experience nonetheless.
Now, just as the second chapter started things got very messy. Some or even all the graphics would eventually glitch out, the game would stutter for a bit or even stop completely, right after the first encounter at Footfall. I replayed the battle three times and every time after combat it would break at some point - right after it while on a dialogue; after looting some goods right in front of me; after exploring the area for a bit and then opening the menu. It's crazy how it took such a drastic turn in terms of game-breaking bugs after the first chapter ended, which is sad since the game was very fun until then. Sadly, until it's fixed it's a thumb-down for me.

After 150+ hours on the original game and a hundred or so more on the 3DS version of Rebirth I finally bought this on PC after Repentance launched this year. Funnily enough the new DLC isn't ported to Linux yet so I lost myself playing Afterbirth+ for 30 hours waiting for the new levels unlock until I noticed it and switched to Windows (Repentance Linux port plz).
This says a bit of just how much Isaac has to offer, from beginner players getting gud, intermediate players like myself honing their skills, learning new ways to play, discovering the potential of once ignored or hated characters and taking on hard challenges, to advanced players that can achieve impossible hitless streaks and breaking the game after 100%ing it.
Be warned, though, this deal with the devil can take as much of your life as any MMO or MOBA if you choose so.
You'll feel like a pro-gamer dodging a bullethell boss with one heart left, God himself shredding through that same boss with godlike powers, ragequit dying after gambling some blind item that ruined your run and curse Edmund's lineage for "balancing" ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ many times through it - and you'll enjoy every bit of it.

I just realised I didn't recommend this game already, so I'm just here to do so. There's so much RIGHT in this game I think I can't write a big review that would make it justice, but trust me, this game is so much fun and a love letter to metroidvanias, so if you enjoy those, you'll be enamored by this. Thank you so, so, so much Team Cherry and Christopher Larkin, we don't deserve you!

I've heard of the Touhou fandom through my weeaboo habits, but never bothered to check any of it out. Now, when I saw METROIDVANIA stamped on this fangame, I had to check it out.
The game runs smoothly and once I got used to the snail/freeze and graze systems (you HAVE to, otherwise this game seems impossible), I enjoyed it pretty much. I think the projectile evading, graze gathering system gives a taste of what a Touhou shmup game is about and integrates it really well on the metroidvania genre. The things I have to criticize on LUNA NIGHTS are: it's a pretty small game, even more so if you get used to the time and graze mechanics early on, it's a bit linear on the exploration side (I wish it adopted the Hollow Knight formula where you can find other ways around and perhaps side-goals), the secondary weapons are mostly useless (excluding some endgame ones), some of the platforming challenges are artificially hard with high damage, which could be re-balanced, and the crystals/shop dynamic could be better explored so you can decide if it's worth spending your crystals or hoarding them for the minor boosts - I sold them just once or twice until I couldn't bother with them anymore (the game even makes it apparent you shouldn't, making the <Shop Girl's name which I completely forgot> seemingly desperate that you spend them).
All in all, a good, albeit small, metroidvania game you can enjoy while waiting for bigger ones - I really, really wish they can expand on the formula on a sequel, DLC or expansion.

É assim que posso definir LISA: The Painful RPG (e seu DLC The Joyful).

Meu novo passa-tempo!
