9/10. I started over 2 years ago from a friend recommending the game as it seemed promising.

It’s been a long journey but I put my sword down for now.

My first experience was getting my ass kicked by zombies in the starting island Haven — having no prior experience to any swordplay games let alone playing first person games it was the first growing pain but it quickly revealed how immersive the world is, honestly within my first hour of play I was so frustrated with learning how to block/parry and attack/riposte I was ready to give up but after looking up videos of gameplay I came across a video from Sergey called “2000 hours of experience in mortal online 2” and from there that lit the fire that still burns today.

If you like MMOs, if you like survival, if you like first person shooters, really if you like any games that get your adrenaline pumping this is it and there is nothing else like it out there.

Safe to say the hours I put in reflect my enjoyment over the time I played and as many others who played in depth at the time would come to know it’s one of a few accounts I was playing. But the sum of my my hours played between the few accounts I have is almost double what I have on my primary account.

I spent the first day or so playing in Haven as recommended by the players in help chat to get attributes allocated properly and skills learned by reading books and just general playing.

At the time when I started it was basically recommended to make a character and play it the “hard way” then eventually reroll it so you can understand the game throughly which at the time was the norm but with the quality of life changes that have been made that is now not required.

The first year and area I started in was Mohki where I played with guilds Reapers and then my brothers in Norseman both part of the massive Mohki alliance at the time. Around this time elementalism and beast mastery were just about to come out. And there was approx 2k players playing at peak times. The biggest thing that took me by surprise was how immersed people were in the politics between guilds and alliances and how some guilds were just outright better in all aspects or so it appeared (looking at you GK bangers)

Due to the activity and large alliances PvP training was pretty regular with the guilds however it was never enough to sate my desire to get better as an individual.

My first memorable fight that I won was with my Norsemen brothers where we were outnumbered and somehow pulled off a victory against the larger guild Empire. This is what really kicked off my drive to keep pushing to get better. And if anyone else reading this who but the time in and had played for awhile would know how much of a rush it is to be fighting and living in the moment and slaying another player.

The game has changed both in world and in the way players operate. The first year players were more “carefree” so people were often roaming around the map to find a fight I don’t know if this was due to the amount of players or not but nowadays most people stick to their respective piece of the pie or don’t even get on unless there’s a fight heating up in their zone.

I’ve been across the map multiple times and I’ve done every dungeon that’s out up until just after sanctum when I have taken a long break. Done just about or dabbled in every profession — spent month or months at a time in respective towns (shout out to hylspeia for still being the nicest looking area in my opinion). I basically played the game to the fullest in both PVE farming and PVP.

My biggest gripe was the upgrade from the unreal engine 4 to 5 I believe for a game that was already very niche this was one of the first major hits that reflect on the population of the game today. Whether it was hardware on the individual end or poor optimization of the upgraded engine. I believe most players who still play or have played would say the previous engine was just better for performance especially in a PvP setting.

I don’t have much to say for the TC update as I was not ever really part of a big enough guild to have major control over an area but I know most people who were part of the larger guilds the TC update was mediocre and still is to this day unfortunately.

However in light of the TC update this is where I found in what is to many players would be a hate/love for the guild Omerta, for me it was one of those guilds that stood out as no one was ever happy of losing hours of work to a group of guys that managed to nab you just before the gates of the city — the guild who occupied Morin Khur and its depths and surrounding area. Omerta was the foundation and id argue the source of some of the best PvPers who have now been spread and seeded into many of the big guilds today. I put in the work as well by dueling with the gang almost daily, something I didn’t necessarily experience before. wether it was lack of experience from others or not these guys sweat and bled to be better and I respected it. On the other hand many who had to deal with Omerta on the receiving end either feared or hated them.

After only a few months of playing with them Omerta folded due to lack of time the guild leader could commit and what was essentially a group of murderhobos looking for bigger and badder people to fight almost everyone went their seperate ways.

This is where a small collective of those guys formed Demonic with the same original principle but on a far more laid back attitude and light heartiness in the aspect of PvP role playing — basically we knew we were a small group but we almost never backed down from a fight something I feel a lot of players choose to do and end up sacrificing valuable PvP experience in what I’d say is the true experience of Mortal Online 2.

I hope someday to come back and experience the vision but for now I rest my blade.

And remember brothas, just parry.

Cheers.
