Star Trek: Bridge Crew meets FTL Multiverse to produce a co-op space exploration simulator like no other. After a few initial hours of comedic incompetence, your crew will find their bearings and be able to live new lives among the stars. Explore planets, hunt bounties, or run cargo, the choice is yours. The RPG mechanics give a sense of growth to your journey while the drop-in/drop-out co-op means you're always able to join a new crew. It's feasible to finish the main story in just a few hours on your first playthough, but it's a very fun experience when you're with a good crew and you always have the sandbox galaxy to return to. Gather 4 of your friends to explore strange new worlds and seek out new life and new civilizations.

A roguelike dungeon crawler with robust co-op support. Barony is fun but unforgiving so I recommend playing the tutorials before starting. The world building is very shallow but the in-game "compendium" of items and creatures is a fun excuse to do runs. Whenever you encounter something in the dungeon your compendium logs it, you can then spend a token you've earned through gameplay to unlock the full page. I love dungeon crawlers but don't really care for roguelikes so the compendium adds a lot to the experience for me.

Fun and unapologetically "for the fans", but burdened by UE5 jank.

Out of the box S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 performs quite poorly and looks kind of ugly. The aesthetic of the game is second to none, but the heavy use of frame generation and temporal anti-aliasing smears the image into a soupy mess. I recommend locking the games to 60 fps, disabling frame gen, and downloading some performance mods from the nexus to make the game much more enjoyable.

Despite being very fun to play, I don't think this should be most people's first S.T.A.L.K.E.R. game. Shadow of Chernobyl or even Call of Pripyat are probably better starting points. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 is bursting at the seams with callbacks and payoffs for characters and events found in previous games. They'll all be lost on you if you're playing this first. I can totally understand why this game was somewhat divisive when it first released as there actually isn't much here for somebody who is brand new to this universe, let alone this genre. Play the first three games at least and maybe even read the book as well as watch the film that inspired this franchise. I cannot overstate how much reverence this game has for these past works and how much they elevate the experience of playing this one. Once you're hooked on "anomalous zone media" S.T.A.L.K.E.R. 2 becomes a no brainer to play.

Team Fortress 2 Classified takes cut content from Team Fortress 2 and mixes it with original ideas to create a unique and fun remix of the TF2 formula. While not the most balanced affair, the game clearly employs a "fun first" philosophy when deciding what to add. The game also adds a ton of community fixes that improve the performance of this version of the source engine. In short, TF:C is fresh and fun for free!

This used to be a positive review but almost every facet of the game has been negatively impacted by changes made in the past few patches. I'm one of the people who liked the game enough to play it for as long as I have so this isn't blind hate. The game is better in some regards but most of the its core problems have been left completely unaddressed or made worse. I would not spend $70 on this game in its current state, let alone the $10 it asks for a battlepass every season.

He made a game with zombies in it.

Use steam's remote play together feature to add online co-op.

A great starting point for people new to videogames. Portal 1 is short, approachable, and very fun. I also personally like P1's atmosphere a bit more than P2's but both are great. These days P1 is often seen as a lengthy tutorial for P2 but I think it still stands as a quality game on its own. Keep an eye out for sales as this game often goes on sale for only one dollar.

A brief fps game focused on atmosphere. Metal Garden has one of the more compelling settings I've seen from a game in recent years. I'm reminded of old Halo titles and even somewhat of Kenshi. The world this game takes place in is ancient and strange, reaching far beyond your character's grasp. This isn't to say that atmosphere is all Metal Garden has to offer though. The gameplay features floaty physics which actually mesh nicely with your character's jump pack. Although the arsenal of weapons at your disposal is small, the shooting is fun too. If you're okay with spending money on small but cerebral experiences, I think this game is a must try.
