This is one of the best games I've played in a long time. I won't forget this experience.

I was looking through YouTube a few nights ago before remembering the song for this game. And I went back to the game sites I used to play it on just to find its name, and upon finally finding it, I was pretty bummed that the servers had been closed down. Then I looked further into it, and found out this game existed. Not just that, but the developer was still actively working on it, based on the uploads of his YouTube channel and the way the game itself functioned. I managed to convince a friend to get it himself, and he ended up gifting it to me as well. And after playing it for 4-5 hours... wow. Just... oh my god.

The improvements here are astronomical compared to its 2005 variant. While the graphics aren't the best in the world, they don't need to be, and it takes nothing away from the experience as a whole. The controls are smooth, everything works perfectly, and it offered no noticeable lag of any kind despite the MMO experience offered and the amount of things being processed, rendered and taken into account on screen at a time.

The cinematic quality of this game is also something to behold. Flying between sectors has absolutely no loading lag in terms of your singleplayer experience, as the game offers to render everything while giving you a cinematic view of your ship and your surroundings as it happens. The way sectors and the viewing of what's in them from afar is brilliantly handled, as you can see around your star system without ever having to view the map. You always know where the star is, and you can see planets, wormholes and other things in the sectors around you from several sectors away. And the generation of the area around you (stars in the distance, clouds of space dust) offer a greatly heightened immersive experience compared to what it used to be, and one that fully reaches my expectations in immersion into a game like this.

The controls and mechanics are hardly different than the 2005 flash game version other than being made infinitely more smooth and manageable. My friend, who had never played this game before or even seen nor heard of the 2005 predecessor, picked up the controls almost instantly and was on the same level as me, who played it throughout a large portion of my childhood, if not with a larger understanding of how to control and manage the game.

Everything is balanced from what I saw. We were capable of taking on higher leveled ships (level ~12-15) despite not even breaking past level 7 on our own with the equipment that we had, which places a lot of confidence within me in how PVP and PVE is handled in this game even as levels progressed. There is a lot of strategy in how you deal with both other players and your own equipment (carrying a scrambler or certain sets of mines, using different secondary weapons at different times or even at the same time to synergize with each other) and even taking advantage of how the camera is positioned between viewing modes can change the way you handle and experience combat.

This game has a ways to go in terms of improving itself. There are a lot of ups, but also some downs, and due to it being an early access, these downs and these ups may vary with time. But from how things look at the time of writing this review, and the fun I had with my friend playing it and even just exploring environments around me, this game has a lot to offer and should be considered highly if anyone is thinking of buying it.

The $19.99 purchase of this game, according to my friend, was very much worth it, and buying it for both of us was equally so. This is a multiplayer game, and playing it alone without any friends with you doesn't entirely change the experience at hand, but certainly makes for a far more enjoyable first introduction to this game.

Well done, Ben Olding. Well done.

This game is quite interesting..you can do whatever you want in your own virtual universe: create and destroy planets, stars, and galaxies with only the click of your mouse. If you like to create, destroy, and expirement with the universe, this is a good game for you.
