Everyone loves a good fat Italian platformer, I'd argue that the controls are easy to learn, you might have tons of forms to master but the game is helpful to let you learn new controls with exploration, before it tests you on those very skills. It's all the best parts of Wario platforming with high speed, frantic escapes and extra rewards for speedy performances. It's a baseline challenge that has so much skill expression that you can't help but re-run your times, it's a requirement for later levels however.

You are allowed to learn new mechanics while exploring, that's about the only Mario inspiration for our panicked permeable pizza maker, Pappino; everything else is a Wario-like experience, with tons of experimentation, new moves and controls, and obstacles that will challenge every aspect of your mastery.

This game is far from a chill, intuitive learning experience. You will crash and bash into everything at least once. But if you like the challenge of multiple layers of controls, fluid (albeit panicked) charming 90's aesthetic, and a hilarious tone, it's absolutely worth $20.

It's been a lovely decade with this game. The cluttered inventory, the hundreds of reagents, the challenging combat and upgrade system all make it a worthwhile experience.
