A little on the short side, but that's average for a frog.

Helldivers taught me that democracy is shaped like a skull and it wears a cape.

If you've ever played Hook Champ or Super Quickhook on iOS, Remnants of Naezith will feel like a re-vamped spiritual sequel to that series.

Includes some much-appreciated options like an indicator for your hook-path, disabling/enabling checkpoints (disable for when you want to get an ace time or enable when you 'just want to get this level over with'), and some customization for your grappling-hook appearance. Also features optional ghost-racing and online leaderboard to keep it competitive.

Appearance-wise the game is very clean and the only time I would lose track of the character was when I had ghosts at full-opacity (which is another configurable option). The color-contrast between which blocks can and can't be 'hooked' wasn't as high as I would have liked, but after a few minutes it's not too hard to tell which are which.

Includes a pretty good soundtrack, and I haven't heard a track repeat yet.

So far I find it decently challenging and it promises to be a good time-based platformer.

If John Carpenter had ever made a film about mechs on an off-world colony, this would be the accompanying video game for that film.

Extremely detailed visuals that don't waste any of the pixels on your screen. The accompanying soundtrack fits perfectly and is good enough to stand on its own as well. For those few times when you do turn down the music, you'll be able to hear the whine of servos, hum of a particle beam, and the jarring crackle of high caliber munitions.

The story won't be fed to you during your missions, but if you're interested there is a 'lore' section accessible in the main menu (if those reams of text aren't enough to flesh out the world, there's also an audiobook/e-book available that gives more hints about the nature of Novo Solo and the city of Solo Nobre).

At first I found the controls to be awkward, but ultimately they do grant a very high level of control over each vehicle. You might be tempted to play this like a twinstick, but it is far from that. While some encounters can be won by brute force and reflex, most will require a few moments of planning to survive.

Brigador is brutal, deep, and unflinching. However, it can also feel clunky and unfair too. Trying to master the game in spite of those challenges has provided an extremely rewarding video game experience.

Bizarre but fun and challenging. A quality retro-roguelite. Even includes a nice chiptune soundtrack!

The iron sights are black and fuzzy silhouettes, the NPC's (and your own) face looks like it was made from paper mache, and the trees and houses could have been from a pop up book that's been out in the rain..

Byte for byte though, it still has way more military realism packed into it than any other game I have played.

11/10

Would squint again.
