Exploration
here isn’t about discovery; it’s about survival. Every star system is a coin toss between treasure and death, and every alien encounter feels like trying to negotiate with a drunk who has a knife. The ship’s been through hell and back, bolted together with whatever scraps I can find, but in the endless black, it’s still just one bad shot away from becoming debris.

The combat?
Pure chaos, pretending we’ve got a strategy while firing whenever we’re scared enough. Diplomacy? Smiling while alien warlords size us up for target practice. There’s some big mystery about why we’re here, ancient relics, cryptic messages, but at this point, who cares? The real mission is to make it through one more day, one more fight, and maybe, just maybe, not get blown to bits in the process. Space doesn’t have answers. Just questions and things that want you dead. But for now, I’m still driving.

TLDR: As someone who really enjoyed the first game (Nexus) and many other games like it... this dev captures what makes arcade-y dog-fighting fun and the power trip of becoming an unstoppable technological marvel of a ship. It's not perfect, there are (quite a few) lulls in the action, but the moments of reprieve are peppered with fun moments of discovery and banter from the crew. 8/10

TDLR: Good game but not without flaws. The first and probably last RTS I've played with a controller. 7/10 Overall.

I ended up getting 100% on the game in just under 25hrs, but I could've gotten through the campaign well under half that time if I hadn't been grinding for 'heroic' achievements. Emphasis on grinding. There's a required amount of cheese necessary to win with certain required objectives. Like wearing down the AI until they die of attrition. The last mission was a doozy to get the heroic achievement on.

Some objectives came down to map RNG a little too much, don't even get me started on the last mission. Probably spent 4 of those hours on that one. Did I have fun? Yes. But it was a much more frustrating experience than it should've been. The music and art are great, the ideas are fresh and definitely worth trying if you're into RTS. Wish some of the missions hadn't been a slog but many of them were quite fun.

The gameplay itself has all the tropes of a typical RTS, rushing, turtling, ect. However, it really does try to carve it's way into the genre with a unique mechanic, all of your commands in game are given directly through a army commander. If he/she dies, you have a timer to respawn. You have to build, march into the enemy, and destroy their farms. The farms are the only resource in the game. Given the simplicity of the rest of the game, this was the right call. So scouting early to see what your opponent is up to while you wait for your buildings or units to complete is vital. The unit types are varied, fairly interesting, then late game you have "hero units" which have some sort of unique ability that feels really good to unlock when you're winning. If you're not winning, you can't afford them.

It was actually way more intuitive to play with a controller than I expected, in fact if you have one, you'll probably do better than with a keyboard and mouse. You do have unit control groups, but you can't split up your army other than leading a certain unit type to one place. It was annoying to lose a mission objective because of not having that kind of granular control.

Give it a try, don't focus on achievements. Just play the game for what it is and don't let the darn RNG get ya down.

Looking forward to when they make a sequel with what they learned and call it: Feasty Boys

Name your company Pfizer and come up with your own treatments with multiple side effects.

Pay scientists to kill lab rats.

Finance marketing wizards to create a need where there is none.

Hire dirty rats lawyers to cover up your dirty deeds.

No bugs I encountered. Simple but effective gameplay loop, had quite a bit of fun for an afternoon. Over the Counter is a genius, cynical take on Big Pharma. Game should probably land between $5-10.

I like strategy, I like depth. I also like engaging visuals. They don't even have to be good visuals (I'm looking at you Rimworld) they just have to sink me in the story. For some reason this game didn't do it for me. I gave it 7 hours, I knew it was going to have a steep learning curve. If you like games with minimal art and lots of reading and being confused about what to do next, this game might be for you.

Also, Paradox seems to be competing with EA and Bethseda for worst business practices.

Just play Moonlighter. The mechanics are better and more interesting all around.

Great game, fixed all the problems that the 1st one had and adds an immersive, fun, pirate adventure with plenty of companions to take along. The music is fantastic. There's so many sidequests and things to do. The fighting can be a little obtuse at times still, and the ship mechanics could be better, but it's a lot of fun managing and seeing how different tactics can work. It's probably the most fun I've had in a game all year. 9/10

Someone gave me this game. I don't think I would've tried it otherwise. But seriously... look at how many hours I have on this. Ugh.

What a terrible friend. XD

Plays like a deep mobile game. Normally I'd say, "Noooo thanks." But the mechanics are gameplay get you hooked quickly and it's definitely worth a few hours of fun.

I have 50 hours in the game, so obviously I've given it a fair chance. As many other have said, the mechanics are suffering the the writing is encumbering. I like Pillars of Eternity, this is based on the same engine, but the model art and writing are not as good. I didn't even like the ending of PoE, but the gameplay was far more entertaining. The combat in this game is super boring.

It doesn't feel like a game. By that I mean... it's more-or-less an interactive movie. It's my first TellTale game, so I'm guessing that's the audience.

If you like long cutscenes, QTE's and nior-flavored stories, it might be your cup of tea. For what it is, it's decent.

But I'm not a fan. Why not you ask? Because you can watch the results on youtube. It's about as much fun and you won't have to deal with a silly QTE to progress the story.
