With my first playthrough behind me, it seems like every praise levied against this game is, to me, justified. Above all else, the game kept me hooked with its story and it made me laugh, and I think it's a very rare thing for a video game to accomplish both. I'll definitely enjoy listening to the OST in the background, before I come back for another playthrough.

when driving to kamurocho for the epic finale, presumably while the van was speeding through tokyo, yagami took the time to change out of the suit and into his epic jacket, so that he can look cool for the boss fight
great game, though, actually

It's a puzzle platformer for the less patient. Movement feels really good once you get into the groove, and it only gets better after levels get more complex and you gain more powers. The puzzles themselves are rarely showstoppers, relying moreso on skillful platforming rather than figuring out what to do. You'll be stuck on one for a few minutes tops, then solve it and get to the next one. It's a pace I really enjoyed, and it encouraged me to see the game all the way through.

I feel like the art was definitely the game's main selling point (I've learned about this game from viral posts about it) and you get your money's worth - game looks really pretty. I'm not one to trigger your imagination with flowery language - scroll up, watch the trailer, look at the screenshots. I only wish that you could zoom in manually, allowing you to inspect the details of the level.

I'd be genuinely proud of myself if I was a person that worked on this game.

WARNING: At the time of writing the review (10.08.2025), the game is, despite multiple bugfixes, still quite buggy. Graphical glitches, audio mixing issues, regular (once every hour-ish) crashes. It definitely feels like the game was rushed out the door and is in need of a bunch of polish.

That being said, I still enjoyed my time with the game - any opportunity to climb into Robo's shoes is worth seizing. The core gameplay carries over from the base title, without many changes, The feeling of being a heavy tank on a road riddled with soft targets is something I still adore. New mods for Auto-9 are more ridiculous than ever, while the new 'cryo' stuff looks great and fits right in with the gore. I'd say the game is worth buying just for that.

However, the big part of what made me fall in love in Rogue City was all the stuff you got to do during 'downtime', be it on the Detroit streets or the police station. It really made me connect with different side characters and their eventual role in the main story mattered to me so much more. Unfinished Business attempts to do that, but there's *something* missing. Maybe it's the lack of recurring locations, or a lack of grasp on how much time passes in the game (I can't tell whether the plot occurs during several hours or days). Maybe it's because the characters they try extra hard to make us care about, reappear multiple times at the final act as if we're in a rush. I'm not entirely sure.
For what it's worth, the main plot is perfectly serviceable. The opening is fantastic, the ending is horrid, everything else averages out just above the middle.

The 'alternative' sections (to avoid spoilers) are a nice addition. The first two feel fresh and fun, so does the last one, while the third one (ratface) feels shoehorned in. It would be great to see more of those in future RoboCop titles, but they also show that Teyon could successfully change gears and make their next title something different.

I am still a Teyon fan and I have my fingers crossed both for the studio's future and their next titles - I'll be there Day One.

I've got nothing smart to say, I'll be honest - this game is just excellent. Every time I think there's nothing else you can do to improve on the series, they surprise me. The story is the most fun it's ever been, new enemies have great designs with a way bigger focus on targeting weak points, every class has more toys to play with. Can't wait for what they do for EDF 10

For the $7 that I paid, this game is definitely worth it. You can see a lot of Rocksteady's talent shine through, in terms of the writing, story, art design, even gameplay. I'd be lying if I said I didn't enjoy the experience.
Don't get me wrong - this game is covered head-to-toe in liveservice stink, the ending being an awkward setup for it all. I don't think this game could ever be purged of it. But you can safely ignore all the contracts, daily quests, currencies, crafting, all of it. You'll be left with 12h of a 7/10 game that's nowhere near as soulless as you might expect.

To Warner Bros. Games - for what you did to Rocksteady, it's on sight.

To justify my short play time - I've already beaten this game through Game Pass, I just repurchased it on Steam to have it permanently.

This is easily one of my favourite games of 2022, in part because it has clear strengths, but no obvious weaknesses to distract you from what the game does best.

The visuals in this game are gorgeous - it feels like playing through a concept art book. I'm sure that many have seen beautiful key art pieces and wished they could play through something like that, but the reality is that technical limitations and gameplay restrictions often forbid such a practice. Here, however, the artist, programmer and the game designer got along swimmingly. It probably helped that they're the same person. The game is beautiful, but it never feels like a compromise - the gameplay never suffers just to show you something cool, or vice versa,

Speaking of gameplay, it is very good. It's not something that feels extremely tight, making me wanna replay the game over and over. But it definitely deserves a better grade than 'fine'. Controlling Deadsuit feels good from the start, becoming increasingly fun as you collect more upgrades. The idea of synergizing melee with ranged combat is a really smart one (as your gun overheats, melee gets stronger), so fights stay dynamic for a long time. Admittedly, melee loses value as you progress, but other mechanics come in to fill in the gap. The balance also might've changed in a patch at some point, I've played at release. The enemies are tanky, but to me, it never felt like a tedium to fight them.
This game is a classic metroidvania in terms of map structure, wherein you gather upgrades while exploring, which then allow you to explore maps, or backtrack to the previous maps to get upgrades. You can also teleport to a small number of locations, but the game isn't too generous with that, so get ready to walk.
Backtracking through visited maps doesn't feel too dull though - the game doesn't tend to have any rooms designed to annoy you (think Castlevania and the rooms with flying medusa heads). What's more, enemies drop 'nanogel', which can be used to upgrade your character, soulslike-style. And similar to a Souls game, you drop your nanogel when you die and you have to pick it back up.

Music in this game surprised me - I had certain expectations going into a sci-fi Metroidvania game, but they were subverted in a pleasant way. OST is comprised of mostly chill and ambient-like music, which feels kinda analogue (idk how to better describe it). It's a joy to listen to in-game, as the music perfectly sets the tone of the game and accentuates what's going on. Outside of the game, it sounds just as good, and the OST often plays while I do work.

I'm afraid to speak on the story, because after two years, I don't remember much. I only recall that I enjoyed it. The main story is focused on helping a crew fix their crashed ship and escape the moon. There is also a sub-plot going on, where you can learn more about the backstory of the place, and the conflict which devastated it.

I'd absolutely recommend that you give this game a shot when it's on sale. If you're looking to scratch a metroidvania itch, with fantastic visuals and music, that isn't afraid to slow down sometimes and smell the flowers, this could be it.

I got this game way back when, from one of the first Humble Bundles, and I almost beat it, then left it for 10-ish years, until recently.
It is still a really fun title. The mechanic of rotating the world around you is used in a myriad of ways - it's challenging, but also satisfying to use once you get comfortable with it.
Unique artstyle keeps the game looking fresh after so many years, it sounds great too (despite limited number of music/sounds). It's an easy recommendation from me.

I am so happy to give this game my heartfelt recommendation. It is my favourite title this year. I've been burnt by a bunch AAA releases this year, and this game was a breath of fresh air. What it lacks in polish (hehe), it gains back in heart and joy.

This game makes you feel incredible as Robocop, top to bottom - from the way you move, how it feels to shoot and fight, to how you talk and interact with other characters. It's clear that Teyon did their homework and put their best effort into this. It's not just a 'love letter' to the franchise, it's a proper continuation of its legacy.

The story aspect of the game is impressive - the main plot is decently engaging (and it ends perfectly), but it's all the minor sidequests and small interactions that give this game an edge. While they're never super inventive or complex, they made me engrossed within the world and people in it. And when it ties back into the main thread, it's just *chef's kiss*
I was impressed with how engaging the game was throughout its length - every time I felt like the action could use a little pick-me-up, it's as if the game heard me.

It has its flaws, sure. The animations are a little stiff, small graphical glitches do occur (though the game is stylistically and technically gorgeous), but I stopped noticing that stuff after a few hours.

This is a personal 9/10 from me, and probably the most fun I've had this year with a videogame.

(btw, my playtime is low, because i may have initially acquired the game through alternative means, before realising that if AAA games got my money, this game 200% deserves it too)
