This game tells a story, without using words, and does so in a beautiful way.

I was somewhat confused in the beginning. Just keep moving and experimenting with everything you have available to you, it all quickly starts making sense

There's so many things I want to spoil, just to tell someone about these neat points in the game. But I won't.
You should go in blind

I almost regret getting it at 90% discount, the game is worth more.
Yes, it's short, I finished it in ca 3 hours, but this is quality over quantity

Just buy it, you should have this experience in your life

I start the game and I'm greeted with a broken, molten moon.
I click it and I gain (weird symbol)

After clicking enough I look at the upgrades screen, and I click Primordial soup. Now what?

I guess I'll click the petridish looking button. Green blobbly background, no idea what's going on.
I guess I'll click the planet looking button, it leads to a black screen, no idea what's going on.

Why do anyone play this game? I can't even begin to comprehend what's going on

edit: Oh, and what's with the "Cell to singularity" claim? I'm stuck on a moon screen, watching a green blobby background. There are no cells here, and singularities are way bigger than broken moons.

Early Access Review
Factorio on steroids, well made, well optimized, excellent presentation. No reason to avoid this one!

The game itself seems interesting and fun, however..

Problem is, jumping doesn't work on high refresh rate monitors. 60hz monitors are probably fine. 144hz monitors will have you fall to your death over and over and over no matter how well you time your jumps.

As the game stands right now, it's barely playable for me, and I can't recommend it.

I'll keep this short to avoid venting/ranting.

This game breaks my heart. It's beautiful with excellent music, wonderful atmosphere, rich and detailed surroundings, loads of interesting mechanics I want to explore, skills I want to obtain, items I want to collect.

However...

I can't go for a single minute without being annoyed. Max camera sensitivity is way too slow, forcing me to drag the mouse halfway across the desk to turn 90 degrees. The UI requires that you think like a console player, but even then you're stuck in specific modes as if the mouse pointer didn't exist, forcing you to navigate it in really weird ways that overly constrictive. Escape-key does nothing, you have to press 'p' to open the menu (and it doesn't tell you). Options and features are locked away during the forced tutorial. Constant popups take away your control and cover the screen. If "the entity" (whatever it is) talks to you, Sonic stops moving and all your controls are locked forever, no matter what you press (oh, wait, just press the jump button).

It's as if the only quality control they did was with the presentation team (which did excellent), and the control/UX team was just left out completely. I refuse to believe that anyone tested these controls and signed off on them as "valid and good". No way, not in a thousand years.

I can't take it anymore. This game deserves so much better controls than they gave it. It seems like such a great game, being held back by something as mundane as controls, and that's what breaks my heart.

If you dislike bad controls: stay away from this game.
If you don't really care about the controls, I envy you.

Ever wanted a painkiller slaughter map campaign?
That's what this feels like, and it's alright for what it is.

If you expect a new painkiller game, you'll just join the many others who put a thumbs down in this review section.

If you expect a slaughter map campaign for painkiller, this is the one you're looking for. Story is reduced to its bare minimum, there's barely any effort in map design, but the monster spawns are increased a lot to create some interesting challenges.

I had fun, and the painkiller weapon carried a lot with its beam attack. Part of me wishes they didn't trickle the enemies in over time and that the map sections weren't so cramped. Gave up at the map that floods you with hitscanners, but I'm sure there's a strategy to be found. But I'll leave that to people who enjoy hunting hard maps to beat against bad odds.

Tl;dr:
Good ish game with gamebreaking issues. Get on sale if interested.

Game seems interesting and feels painkillery. Weapons are now back to the original set from the first painkiller game. Enemies feel familiar, but fights feel more "tossed in here and there". Excellent voice acting, as always!

Cards are reduced to just a few but significant cards, and they might require a walkthrough to unlock. I paid far less attention to cards in this game than previous games.

I faced a bunch of problems, which is the main reason I put a "not recommended":
- Crashes
- Long loading times
- Enemies get stuck in walls
- Easy to get lost
- Easy to get softlocked

I kind of liked the parts that worked. But having to replay levels for dumb reasons all the time gets tedious.

Excellent!

Without doubt the most enjoyable, pretty and well made game in the series.

If you like Serious Sam, shooters in general, stupid (but good) humor, silly guns, or humongous fights: Just buy it. It's a no-brainer.

20 ish hours campaign might feel short, but each area is well fleshed out and fights are interesting and challenging. You'll easily add more hours beating it again on "Serious" difficulty, which require significantly different approaches. Secret hunting is also interesting and can add a few hours.

Many memorable moments and quotes that I won't spoil here. Go play the game and discover them yourself for some good laughs.

A few negatives, or near-negatives:
- The ultimate Ackerman fight (or whatever its name was), feels unbalanced, confusing and annoying. I blame only 50% on skill issues
- Some fights can feel overwhelming, but there's always a strategy, weak point or better weapon selection that solves them
- Easy to get lost in some areas, but the augmented reality gps solves it elegantly
- Some areas allow you to travel really, really, really far in the wrong direction, where there is nothing to find. Arguably a positive, as it showcases impressive technical abilities of the engine, with large scale areas. However, it can be frustrating when you think you're hunting secrets but discover you're actually 10 minutes away from anything of interest (nice exploration though)

It's just a great, polished game.

There is only one horrible part about this game: The Ubisoft launcher.
