I didn't realize Game of the Year 2025 would release on April fools day! Really enjoyed the demo, and loving the full release!

Early Access Review
I played through multiple demo versions of Hexagod before Early Access, & this version is the best so far!

This is a lightweight strategy game with resource management, structure building, and a tech tree. A typical game can last between 25-40 minutes. As you beat a game, you unlock access to higher difficulties with some more mechanics, giving it decent replay value.

Some wonder victories have prerequisites that are harder than other. I expect some adjustments to the tech tree as the game matures, but would certainly recommend it in this state.

Book of Hours (BoH) is a very well written occult librarian simulator! Each day you learn more about the mysterious Hours inside of Hush House and uncover the secrets of those who came before.

You will find the game challenging at first. You will need to experiment with the underlying systems, dont be afraid of failure! It is very rare to worry about entering a failure state. Each day brings new memories, and new opportunities to learn.

Pro Tip - There is A LOT of information in this game, too much to commit to memory. I highly encourage you to play this game with a spreadsheet open on the side. That way you can track how much aspect a book needs, where you placed it, and the memory it emits. Trust me, this is the way to play the game.

BoH builds upon the lore and world of Cultist Simulator. You do not need to have played Cultist Simulator to enjoy BoH. The games share many elements, but BoH expands upon the systems in a positive way.

TLDR: Castle Story is an amazing mash up of a base builder and real time strategy game that deserves your attention. If you wish you could play Minecraft and Starcraft at the same time, this is the game for you.

I was a backer of this game when it came out on Kickstarter many years ago. Since then, the devs have listened to the community and added a ton of features.

Short List of included features
+ Multiplayer
+ Multiple game modes (Sandbox, Invasion, Conquest)
+ 6 military unit types
+ A variety of enemies to fight against
+ Crystles to help defend your base
+ Map Editor
+ Community made maps via the Steam Workshop / Castle Story forums
+ More!

The game has come a long way since the Kickstarter. Would highly recommend to anyone remotely interested in a base building RTS.
