Early Access Review
Solid game, thought it was too easy at first, but it's proven challenging!

The Devs Did This One Right...
Seriously, if the title doesn't say it clearly enough, the devs did this one right. From quick, fast gameplay to sexy cosmetics, and the best part... it's 100% free. EVEN FOR THE PREMIUM EXPERIENCE! No strings attached to that last part, either; cross my heart and hope to die. I am not paid to write or say this; this is my personal feelings and experience with the game. DM me if you need further proof; I understand.

Invest just a few hours each night, a couple of times a week, and you'll achieve remarkable results. While this game gets the blood pumping sometimes, it is well worth the 'grind' if you want to call it that. The real challenge is winning, often taking only seconds to turn the tide. Its fast-paced nature guarantees fierce competition, pushing everyone to perform at their best.

The Battle Pass
While you could pay for the Battlepass, you really don't need to fork over anything. I want to emphasize that you can have a completely free experience with this game and still achieve premium results with all the features. It requires a bit of winning and a minor effort, but compared to most games, this grind is minimal (if you're winning and completing the quests).

Your first time
Your first time downloading, in my opinion, should focus on completing whatever free Battlepass is available. You'll get some cosmetics to look sexy enough and paid currency. This will ensure a perpetual motion of the paid currency. The goal is to make it through roughly 2/3, which should guarantee buying the next Battlepass. If you can't make it 2/3 of the way, don't worry; aim to complete as much as possible before the end. You'll bank paid currency (FOR FREE) until you get enough to get the Battlepass... that's where the real fun happens.

The battle pass will give you roughly (at the time of this review) 1700-1800 paid currency (PC), which is more than enough to let you buy the next pass if you're smart about it. Currently, and in the past, the Battlepass has cost 1150 PC, giving you a little extra wiggle room to splurge if you want to bank it and buy something fancy from the store. Each season lasts roughly 80-90 days, so you have PLENTY of time to complete it. Once you get enough PC, it's a perpetual motion machine to keep buying the battle pass, assuming you don't overspend in the store.

The Grind

Any real grind is focused on the contracts (quest) awarded daily and weekly, which will help you level up and complete the battle pass (it's all EXP-based). The daily quests are easy enough to complete after a few games, and the weekly quests might take a little more focus but don't take much more than a few extra games focusing on them. If you're having difficulty, I’ve always found that Powershift and Quickcash are great ways to finish contacts since they're so quick. Even if it’s just by playing a game as a specific class, you can simply finish the game as that class, and it will count (Powershift allows you to switch classes during gameplay!!).

Parties can also be beneficial. Having one friend in your party will give you a 7.5% experience boost, and having two extra friends will increase that to 10%. Unfortunately, this game does rely on having friends for bonus EXP (lol), but it's free to play and cross-platform, so any gamer can join in, and it should be an easy sell. Don’t hesitate to friend random players if you're having a good time, too! More players often mean more support during tough situations.

With that, all that's left is winning ;) winning will obviously net you the most EXP. Stay grouped up and keep holding down that trigger!

If you're interested in comp., check out World Tour before you do as World Tour will get your toe in the water. World Tour is based around the battle pass instead of ranked play, but it's about as intense and gives you a good sense of how the game works during ranked play.

10/10 best $5 i've ever spent. Not a very deep game, but solid none the less.

My Personal Favorite - Chivalry II

After playing many hours of Chiv on my Epic Games account [~800 hrs. / LVL 400+] I purchased the game on Steam. After accumulating these many hours, I can confirm this is one of the best games on the internet. While the game is far from perfect, as many other users have touched on in other reviews, Torn Banner is actively working to improve the gaming experience.

Much of the combat is centered around making you feel like the main character of a true medieval battle with all the violence, blood, and silliness along the way. Stab your best friend with a long sword, chop the archer's head off who shot you in the back, physically THROW yourself into the fray with the catapult, or even find a bench and start drinking with the enemy! The possibilities are endless.

Although the tutorial is crucial in understanding the basics, the game's mechanics are easy enough to pick up. If you're brand new to this type of fighting game, you may initially find it difficult to perform some of the more advanced maneuvers. With a little practice (and maybe some luck!), you'll be spinning around like a Beyblade in no time! The game rewards practice and patience, so don't be discouraged if you're not as practiced as the guy across the field.

The game's skill cap is extremely high. Even as a seasoned veteran of the game, I still find duelists and players that wipe the floor with me. The nice thing is many of these high-level players are also more than happy to explain how they just kicked your booty and will help you improve.

Some common complaints about many games within the genre are that it harbors Nazis and other toxic and hateful individuals. Torn Banner has put their foot down and has been actively muting and banning those who are reported spewing hate speech and other slurs that degrade the importance of the game - killing the other guys. This is the game for you if you're looking for a low-toxic game. If you're a Nazi or otherwise hurtful/toxic individual, we don't want you here.

Another common complaint is hacking. I have only seen one person 'hacking', but it was truly a client-side glitch that made only his head and sword visible (everything else was invisible). So I guess I'm trying to say if you think someone killed you with a hack, it was most likely someone more seasoned at the game.

I hope you find this review helpful; I have left comments enabled for now if anyone has any questions or would like a deeper dive into anything I've explained above.

Buy the game, you won't regret it. Been playing almost every day since the launch on epic.

Cheers!
