I love having to wait 5-10 minutes for the game to actually launch after pressing launch on a good ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ rig. This is STUPID.

Originally I didn't like the game since it was unfinished, slightly confusing and honestly a terrible take on the Mount & Blade engine that doesn't offer anything new besides the pirate theme however I played it for about 7-8 hours and I've come to like it a little bit. It does have some charm to it and I am deciding to keep it in my main collection since it has it's own little charm. Originally I struggled with this and Caribbean Legend; trying to decide which one to keep for my pirate itch and honestly they both are decent contenders that offer slightly differing aspects. So much so as said before I am keeping this in my main collection (not hiding and forgetting about it).

Wrote in note format for me to remember in Playnite, however copied and pasted here. Additional context I do so ever slightly recommend this game as it's buggy on release and to this day as well as the devs abandoned it however if you're a Mount & Blade fan I'd recommend giving it ago if you can get it for a few bucks - the very least you'll get 5-10 hours out of it.

Tells me to disable Daemon Tools (Yes I know Windows 11 has built in iso mounter now but I've been using DT since 2011 so it's a comfort thing), reluctantly disable it.

Tells me my account is restricted and I can't play - never cheated in an EA game before and haven't played an EA multiplayer game in years.

Re-launch just in case, still same thing.

Uninstalled this pile of ♥♥♥♥. I shouldn't have to jump through 3-5 hoops and be fought the entire way to play this game. Been a Battlefield fan since 1942 (the first ever release of BF) and this is a joke.

As others who have said; this is just needlessly complex.

To the people saying this is like XCOM; are you on ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ meth? XCOM is a whole different genre than this, this is NOTHING like XCOM at ALL.

I grew up watching my older brother play this game when it first came out, alongside Icewind Dale 2. I was always in awe at the complex and complicated games he played compared to the surface level games I played, sadly when I tried to play them then I couldn't get into them and in today's age I couldn't get into it either.

I wouldn't call myself a fan of CRPGs but I can definitely enjoy them if the production value is there but compared to modern CRPGs I've played such as Divinity Original Sin 1+2, Atom RPG, Encased, Pathfinder Kingmaker, Pillars of Eternity 1, Baldurs Gate 3 to just name a few - it just doesn't hold up well at all.

There's hardly any items, not much item variety, lack of voice acting really hurts my interests however that can be slightly mitigated by Capture2Text. In the past? It may of been GOTY and truly one of a kind but I don't review or care about games nostalgia value; trying to play it today, it's just not good, nor fun because it's extremely dated.

Frankly? I also personally think this game is way overhyped. It's not that special.

There is way too many events at the start of the game at least that constantly hurt you and make it almost impossible to deal with healing - your guys will always be hurt, pissed off and try to rebel. You need to combat and have matches consistently however the game will deliberately throw matches you can't win at you and do so several weeks in a row at a time and or have matches that barely pay out anything. It just isn't fun. Wanted to love it since I enjoyed Colosseum Road to Freedom but alas this just tries to screw you over every in game day you play it.

When I originally posted a review on this or a prior release the dev asked me to revise my review; so I deleted it, yet never revised it. All this games are literally the same with barely any new features added. Each iteration is practically the same graphically, mechanics and functionally; I'd stay away. I'm posting this because I looked at this and saw the new game looking 1:1 to this and it's just absurd.

I also believe EA is a good format to get started, but having every game you plan to release go through EA is just absurd and abusive in my eyes.

This game dev / publisher literally will tweak a game ever so slightly then sell that tweak at full price calling it a "new game"

They did this with Galactic Ruler -> Galactic Ruler Enlightenment and Supreme Ruler Ultimate -> Supreme Ruler 2030 (and they're re-releasing ALL the dlc from SRU to SR2030).

They made good and fun strategy games when they first started but they've not innovated in all these years and now they're being scummy with the little 'updates' they do release.

I actually got 4h55m in the game and I really want to like it because the theme, the world, the RPG mechanics and creators of Fallout which I'm a fan of but for some reason I just can't and I don't know why. I've tried it 3 different times and each time I throw myself at the game just to be pushed away.
