TLDR: Let it have some updates and better balancing first before you buy.

I have been a Star Trek nerd and a gamer my whole life. This is game like Oregon Trail meets Fallout Shelter meets FTL. Or the Alters meets Oregon Trail. It's fun but even on the easiest game mode when you start off it is very unforgiving. The Alters was easier starting off then this game was, for sure! The price for the game would be fair but... I would still wait for some updates, balancing and some better sound engineering first. I am almost 10 hours in if you want to Read more!

Spoilers ahead:

I went through and repaired shuttle bay to help with the resource encounters but every time and I do mean every time, in the first act of the game so far, I have lost EVERY shuttle I have built and they aren't cheap. Or any time I have when to get a resource I end up with hull damage or lose the resource completely... one the easiest game setting it happens way too often and for too little return most time. The game also punishes you for not zooming through a star system and even when you do sometimes a sector is 5 to 7 systems deep and you get about half way the crew starts saying they are homesick. The game pushes you to get the main missions done and you have little time for the side missions sometimes or to get full on supplies before moving on.

Heroes! They are interesting and you see a lot of familiar faces. I got to the part where B'elanna Torre by The Vidiians. Well, I ended up with two B'elanna's. Human and Klingon. Either person can be the Chief Engineer, so it SHOULD go to Carey but it doesn't. The game brings in two randos who aren't even Heroes which limits your dialogue responses on the bridge. Either make Human B'elanna Chief or make Carey Chief would be nice. Also when you put a hero onto a compartment to enhance it, you can only swap them to another area, you can not unassign them. It's more of a quality of life complaint because you would think shutting off the compartment would unassign the hero but it doesn't. I wish that was an option.

The Kazon: They ambush you more and more the closer you get to Borg Space which is wired. I understand that part of it is story based but it happens WHY too often when you are about to move into Borg space.

Power is an issue. Some compartments use WAY too much power for what they do. With some research you can get some power usages down a little bit but some times it's not enough for resources you have to spend to research it. Again, the game pressures you for time with penalties to things like moral or having them on a 'cycle' base, which are just turns basically.

Finally I will go over sound engineering for this game:
WHO thought 'Shields destroyed, Captain' was a good voice line when the enemy ships shields go offline.... They regenerate. So the line should be 'Enemy Ship's shield have failed' or 'Their shields are down, Captain.'. Also, the warp noise and the nacelles moving into place just sound so wrong. There are some other issues as well but they are more minor then anything.

Cool things that should added:
Once the Holodeck is back online you should be able to use it to help train crewmen who are not as leveled up as the others. You end up using the game 4 or 5 crew on the away missions because of all the exp they earn. The missions scale with the story it seems so sending low level crew would just get them injured or killed out right.

Should be able to choice who the Chief Engineer is if B'elanna is split into two people or killed. Should be away to keep Tuvix as a clone using the Vidiian medical device, if you get it, and get Tuvok and Neelix back.

Thanks for coming to my TED Talk.

TL:DR I can not recommend the game currently.
The Rant: The tech tree is completely generic with some Star Trek tech thrown in and you don't get the unique tech at the start for any nation. You should start off with different classes of starship, not just one(1). The UFP gets the Miranda class and then jumps to the Intrepid Class. Takes ages to get the Excelsior class unlocked. The random encounters and the exploration is nice and interesting. The influence system really favors the Cardassians early game. The UFP has a really hard time expanding and takes ages to integrate minor powers into the UFP and you end up using an Envoy for the longest time which limits the first contract missions. When you unlock Spock as an officer he is an Science officer instead of an Ambassador!?! Like I fee like the devs watched some random Star Trek and then said lets make a game based off the Enterprise C going Missing. I love Star Trek but I can't recommend this game. This feels like a beta version of the game, I hope the make some major changes and clean up the game and don't just use this as a cash grab.

This game is amazingly detailed but you have to be patience. You have to use your head and not rush things. Sometimes running in to be the hero will get you killed. I both love and hate this game for that but I keep coming back to it.

I've played on and off as a casual player since the open Beta test. I wouldn't recommend the game as it stands now. Carriers are magical plane factories and have little to no vulnerability unless they are the last ship standing on the enemy time. The planes are damage sponges and don't go down very easily against a cruiser or battleship with high anti-air fire power. Playing a carrier is too easy even with the damage one flight of planes can do but as soon as one attack is done another attack can be launched just as quickly. The game devs have also added a lot of ships that weren't more then a concept in someones notebook. I get it, they want to keep the game interesting but something that was never even a blueprint or flushed out and approved but never built is one thing but now they're making stuff up or making carriers have planes that aren't era correct on them or have radar systems on other ships that can see through land masses like mountains. The free to play format of the game "invites you" to open you wallet and pay real money for ships that there should be other ways to get, such as loyal player rewards for number of hours played and then they are captains you can buy that when they first came out you had to grind a year for just to unlock if you were just a casual player. The rewards plays who pay more rather than a community that is loyal to the game and the brand which breeds a toxic gameplay experience. I can't recommend this game since it's not a balanced experience. It may be fun for one or two battles a day but that's about it. Don't play it seriously or all you'll do is hate it.

TLDR: Short but fairly well crafted for an EA published game. Recommend game if it was $19.99 or less.

While Star Wars Jedi Fallen Order was a fun game it's not worth the $29.99* I paid for it! The Main Story is a Short 16 hours and even to playing it on Story Mode the Purge Troops can kick your butt if your not quick enough. The Inquisitors and just NUTTY one second you think you got'em figured out and then BOOM nope! Some of the other Bosses are the same. Also the AT-ST move more like people instead of the Walkers you see in the Movies and TV shows and I think that took me out of the story a bit in those fights.

*was on sale at the time I got it.

If you are a fan of the first and second Jurassic Park Movies then this is the DLC for you! In my opinion this is how the game should of launched but I digress, so far it's been a blast to play.

I've been testing this game for about a week and I have to say that this game has a lot of potential but is still differently a per-alpha game and should be treated as such. Give it some time to work out the bugs and add the features and you'll see a game that will pass H1Z1 and DayZ in scoop and game play.

DISCLIMER: I am recommending this game but give it a few months before you play it.

I first heard about this game in the works about two or three months ago and as a BSG fan I was super excited about it's release. I can't tell you how long I've been waiting for a real strategy game to come out in the BSG universe. When I first saw the price tag I was taken aback and tossed around the idea of maybe waiting to get it but since I signed up for the beta test but didn't get in I go a discount code so I deceived to get it. When I booted up the game I just couldn't wait to get started killing some frakin' toasters!

Pros:
Great for Fanboys or Fangirls.
Killing toasters.
Watching BSG Universe ships blow toasters sky high.
Watching a Battlestar do it thing.
Good strategy game.
MKII Vipers will attempt to shot down missiles.
Decent gameplay for the most part.

Cons:
Toasters will target your Officers ship first with missiles, even if it's in the back of the formation.
No point defence systems on smaller ships.
UI could use a reworks and streamlining.
The story acting needs some work, feels kinda weak or forced at times.
The non-story encounters get repeatitive with in a short amount of time.
The story should last longer than it does. Rmember it was a war that went on for 10+ years.
The Battlestars are nice but. . . They are glass ships vs, Cylon capital ships in a mid-range or close in fights even with flak screens up, other support ships, fighter attempting to shot down missiles. Battlestars are supposed to be a battleship/carrier and it feels more like an Yorktown-Class Carrier (Per WWII) with two Fletcher-Class Destroyers (Per AA Upgrades) welded on the sides.

Would I recommened this game? Yes, but not for $39.99 (USD). Wait for it to go on sale and give it a go!

Early Access Review
UPDATE: Bigger, Better and Funner! The work done on this game so far is great! Has gotten a ton better with each major patch since the New Version has come out! If you've played it before or want to play it just watch youtube videos of the game with the newer patches and I bet you'd play it!

Naked.
Found the airdrop.
Got a Thompson.
Had 80 rounds of ammo.
Had a few med kits.
Saw a guy.
Shot him!
Full armor plus a pipe shotgun and meat!
Found my buddies.
Built a cave base!

10/10!

This isn't your sister's Minecraft Server Boy! This is Rust! Either the new verison or Legacy you'll fight off the naked hordes out to kill you for what ever you may have, weather it be for your Rock or your Blot-action Rifle you just made you can bet they are coming for you! The island is large, the naked ones are every where and you, you have to live to see tomorrow. Build a base, built it quick get your mats and make your gun and get ready to defend yourself!

I've played both the New Version and Legacy and logged 200+ hours since I bought the game over a year ago. It's been fun, it's driven me mad and it's been laughable! I think Rust is best played with a friend or five and raiding and larger, long fire fights are a MUST! IF you have bought or are thinking about buying the game remember this: It's in Alpha and does come with some bugs, just report them the best you can and sometime soon (or rather sooner or later) Gary and his team will fix it. Have fun, build, kill, hunt or be hunted and Rust on!
