may be THE definitive pirate game to play rn

it's best played with others since managing a ship solo takes a lot of effort, so a crew can at least distribute the job. like most modern games, the goal is to grind for the pretty cosmetics. gotta swag out your virtual pirate and virtual ship.

the experience and the fun comes from the world events and interactions you have. if you go with a crew you'll have a lot of free time in the seas to just chat. i know for me, i had a lot of "sophisticated" conversations sailing late at night with the bois.

tackling on world events especially when the threat of other players are involved creates a nice tension throughout the game. also the game is really pretty, especially at dawn and dusk.

most players will probably attack you, but if you get lucky you might encounter some friends...
that said, always be prepared. since the pvp is not as intuitive, it'll take some time to get the hang of it

there might be another pirate game in the future, but for now, i can't recommend this one enough, it's the move

there's a TON to do and so much to explore if you got the time. the main story is not the highlight of the game, and in fact is very limiting in terms of role playing as certain characters

but if you don't mind that there's a narrative limit, then you'll have fun. this game has many subtle details that you WILL notice if you play it again with different goals and playstyles. not to mention the abundance of mods that have been released since launch to make the game more enjoyable to you

this review's totally biased since it was my first fallout game but if you haven't played any fallout games yet then this one wouldn't be a bad start. it's got a lot of charm and you'll appreciate the franchise as a whole if you start with this one, i know i did
