Despite a fantastic concept, this game fails to deliver practically everything it tries to accomplish. Endlessly frustrating building mechanics, boring, finicky lore, underwhelming boss fights and an overall disappointing conclusion left this game with everything to be desired. On top of this, this game is so unbelievably glitchy that it is almost unplayable. Dropped items merge through the floor and disappear, the raft randomly phases through buildings, and I cannot name how many times my co-op and I had to close the game due to getting trapped into a chest GUI unable to leave it. An absolute disappointment.

Every single lore island was an absolute mess from a game design perspective. Absolutely zero direction, humongous islands that take forever to traverse, and when you do end up completing the story, it does not feel rewarding whatsoever. The only bearable island BY FAR was Temperance, and that was because they included transportation (snowmobiles) giving us an incentive to actually explore. The worst island was Varuna Point (followed close behind by Balboa Island), because the entire thing was underwater, and the boss fight was practically impossible to complete without flippers - an extremely expensive piece of utility with very low durability. Every single island required the Wiki to be reasonably completed except for Temperance, because it didn't waste our ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ time running in circles.

Overall, I absolutely do not recommend this game unless you are interested in wasting your time. A frustrating, finicky experience topped off with an underwhelming ending left me indescribably disappointed.

EDIT: Another gripe: When picking up an item that has other items inside of it (e.g. planks on a grill, batteries charging on a wind turbine) the items vanish and you cannot get them back. Not sure if this is another bug or just horrible game design. Same thing happens with pipes. When you pick up the bottom one, every single attached pipe above it disappears. Ages of wasted resources gone... Anyone else having these frustrations? I can't believe this game has so many positive reviews.
