Slay the Spire is the game I didn't know I needed in my life until I played it for myself. It SOUNDED great, and then I finally found free time and picked it up, and it is absolutely a fantastic game.

Gameplay:
The deck building component is thorough, without feeling too overwhelming, and the randomization of the cards you can pick from as you progress through each level adds an exciting element to the game. Every floor of the spire you pass feels like a mini-roulette game when the cards you can select from pop up on the screen. Learning to use the different cards at your disposal for maximum effect and damage is truly satisfying.

Sound:
Unfortunately, I can't comment on the sound. Currently I'm gaming from a hotel, so I try to be considerate.

Visuals:
Admittedly, the visuals do look like they're coming fresh from a flash game website in a lot of cases, along with some of the effects actually getting in the way of menu options. (Looking at YOU, item store!) That being said, this doesn't take anything away from the polish of the game, and actually lends an air of nostalgia: A courteous nod to the aforementioned favorite flash games that we all used to play. Keep an open mind!

Replayability:
You will hit this game again. And again. And again. And each time you'll hope for that favorite card to drop as early as possible, OR you'll find a new favorite, OR you'l realize that that favorite card might seem great, but it just doesn't combo as well as you want it to. Either way, once you play a couple of rounds and find a favorite character, you won't be surprised when you look at the clock and hours have passed.

Difficulty:
For the most part, this game has a pretty smooth learning curve. There are mechanics to learn, and there are definitely certain orders you want to play your cards, but the serious game ending curve-balls are limited to your enemy encounters, and even those can just be attributed to bad things and the wrong times instead of insurmountable walls chalked up to bad game design.

Overall:
This game is unbelievably good, and you should absolutely pick up a copy for yourself and maybe even a friend!
