The thing that really got me interested in the expanse game is the factions. Basically think like the shepherd's origin story of mass effect except because of the setting they're forced to make it work. It will affect everything you do in that universe down to the people you can interact with, the things you can do, your character and so on. This is something I haven't seen in any videogame done to this scale. Bethesda games have factions of course but those are more of a checkboxy sandboxes full of bugs and old ideas.

So if you're the slightly interested in sci-fi games, I would give the expanse a check. You can also watch the show on prime to see if you will like the lore. I watched and liked it, but dropped on the second season because I found it to be too slow, but I still had a great time. This was also way before I knew of any game thing, the show just was good by its own strengths despite me not being a movie/TV kind of guy.

I'm with you on mass effect. However even with ME3 being the game of all time it was, I still liked the trilogy as a whole. It did a lot of things well enough and had solid gameplay that I still consider one of my favorite franchises despite everything. There's also the fact that... there isn't really anyone else that did something similar at least as well.

Mass effect refers more to the style of game of being a sci-fi choice-driven RPG with solid combat and world building. It's the most far-reaching sci-fi game you can make. Expanse and exodus are following that trend in the sci-fi race it's why it caught so many eyeballs.

people are looking forward to expanse because it's the only mass effect-like game that looks somewhat decent lol

hey tilarta. I was wondering what kind of sci fi games you would recommend someone to play.

Also, people in the sci-fi space are looking forward to expanse: osiris reborn, you should look it up.
