i despise the extraordinarily heavy handed monetisation but the game doesnt even feel good to play. it feels so floaty and laggy like every move needs to be handled by 500 scripts. press the attack button and your character stops, then flies at the thing you attacked, then stops, then bounces up extremely rigidly, and then you get control back. hello?

Early Access Review
very promising and exciting so far! i would say that you guys really need to work on character animations and character customisation right now, as it feels very barebones. i've got the skills for this, reach out to me! i'll help!

the sailing reminds me of sea of thieves, which is great. people are having trouble sailing solo, but i think that's a knee jerk reaction. they'll learn, just like people learned in sea of thieves.

that said, the boat you start with handles really, really well, and i'd appreciate it being much more difficult to control. the friction on it is very, very high, and it feels like it stops and turns really easily.

good work so far! excited for more!

games dont get "overwhelmingly positive" on steam for no reason. dont pass over it just 'cause it might have escaped the containment of its niche!

this game is so much fun. high speed, high octane reaction game that rewards execution over memorisation. extremely easy to get into the flow state.

fast girl game, you're the most fun i've ever had playing a roguelike. i keep doing runs in the demo but i've had to force myself to stop so i don't wear it out.

balatro is like using a playing card to carefully cut up your crack, then bending over and snorting up the playing card

big fan of all the movement mechanics so far, but i think the difficulty curve is very steep. immediately after the tutorial i'm being asked to string together a LOT of complicated platforming maneuvers, which i only felt comfortable tackling because of my experience in similar games (like penny's big break and pseudoregalia). even then, falling all the way down and having to get back up to the rail grinding into triple wall jumping bit was punishing and took up my time instead of being something i could just go at until i got it. and that was the first bit of platforming i was encountering out of the tutorial!

i absolutely hated the section where you're circling around that mesa with the enemy on top that's bombarding you with mortar strikes. they are super big, super precise, and they are attacking me at areas where i'm trying to do something specific such as aiming myself for a slingshot or dig up the healing items to actually heal?? after finally climbing to the top and taking my revenge, that was it! there was nothing up there. i had no idea what my reward was actually supposed to be.

that was the moment where i closed the demo. i did all that for... well, i don't really know what i did it for.

if i had to boil everything down to one piece of critique, it would be this: it feels like the skill floor is biting at my heels. i constantly feel pushed to get better at the game at every moment of playing it, with zero opportunities to relax, because if i relax at any moment i just don't get to continue playing. make room for organic growth, and maybe follow up a super hard challenge with an immediate reward instead of leaving me standing at the top of a hill with no clue what to do next.

to players, i recommend this demo on the basis that it's free and everyone should try it. but if this were the full game, i don't think i could recommend it. i think that it would be too difficult with too little casual enjoyment available and bounce too many people off.

insert joke about this being "the dark souls of platformers" here.

seems fun but realistically i can't recommend anything that has region locking. just another case of a game created by a studio that exists in a monoculture country not understanding that there are multiple english speaking countries.

maybe they'll fix it, someday. til then, i've gotta recommend against picking up a game that'll exclude your friends, even if you can play as your fursona (admit it, that's what we're looking at this game for)
