This game is the first one I've ever played that made me want to rage quit before I'd reached the start menu. An unskippable useless cutsceen plays the first time you load up that drags on and on and on and gives you no useful or interesting character information. I was so angry when I finally reached the menu that they had forced me to watch it that I quit and it took me months to even come back and try opening the game again.

Once I did, I was sorely disappointed.

I loved the first two Max Payne games. I've replayed them multiple times and loved the noir story and the ridiculous bullet time action that lets you dive into a room and see how many bad guys you can kill before you hit the ground. Truly something I find just fun.
In Max Payne 3 as I started trying to pull off my favorite moves I realized that my aiming reticle is snapping to a grid instead of smooth scroll around the screen which at times makes head shots impossible as it is litterally bouncing from one side to the other of the enemies head. They clearly made little effort in this console port to PC. Then there are the "events" that railroad you to take certain moves like pointlessly and dangerously breaking through a window and sliding down a roof towards a host of bad guys. No choices or tactics possible, oh and you have make a tricky shot before you reach the bottom or you lose, and by the way the reticle problem, makes the shot frustratingly difficult.
Now guess what you failed. If there was any sort of cinematic cut scene before you died you now get to watch the ENTIRE THING without being able to skip it. Oh and some of those cut scenes are minutes long and drop you straight into a firefight. What you died again? LET'S WATCH THE WHOLE POINTLESS CUTSCENE AGAIN! Becuase why would you want to start over at the end of the cutscene when the action starts instead of watching 2 minutes of pointless drivel?

I wanted to like this game, badly. I even persevered through everything I wrote above to make sure I was giving it a fair shake but after several levels I was exhausted of fighting the poor interface, poor cut scenes, uninteresting game play, poor graphics compared to what a PC can handle, and the crushing disappointment of seeing how horrifically bad the series had been mangled.

Do not buy this game. Do not play this game even if someone gave it to you for free. Save yourself, go find a good game, or even a decent one to spend your time on.

This is a great game that has a terrific balance of strategy, luck and variety. I have spent many, many hours and play throughs trying a wide variety of strategies both in trying to figure out ways to win, but also to see how many stategies I can come up with that are effective. Simple in concept and execution with plenty of variation. I have thoroughly enjoyed this game and I'm happy to have supported its launch through Kickstarter.
