Do yourself a favour and play this game.

One of the few modern games where you really get value for money and a "mostly" complete product.

I'm 21 hours into the game and just scratching the surface. It's your standard fair open world game. The lure of Horizon is the story. If you don't enjoy "Ubisoft" style open world games, then this one isn't for you.

If you do and want to explore an interesting world, then give it a shot.

Though others have complained about crashes and bugs, I have been one of the lucky ones not to encounter any of these.

Fallen Order is a great blend of Souls-like combat and level design, Uncharted style exploration with a Star Wars skin. I've only played for roughly 6 - 7 hours at the time of this "review", but I've thoroughly enjoyed the experience. I've experienced the odd fps drop (on an i7 an 980ti) while exploring, but not during combat.

The combat is punishing (not nearly quite as hard as the Dark Souls games, but slightly harder than your average AAA) without being unfair.

The exploration and movement is fluid (not quite as free roaming as something like Sekiro) and fun. Unlocking new abilities and finding solutions to puzzles or access to areas you saw before, but couldn't complete is just as much fun as it has always been in a traditional Metroidvania games. There is some backtracking if you want to collect everything, but that's pretty standard in this style of game.

All of this is wrapped up in a Star Wars story which feels familiar, yet different enough to make it it's own thing.

I'm excited to see where the game takes me next, but so far it's been worth the price of admission.

Edit: I'm roughly 20 hours into the game and still enjoying it.

First time in a while that I feel compelled to start playing and actually want to finish the game. The atmosphere is great, the story is interesting. Despite what some people are saying about the combat feeling "off" I've been enjoying it, granted I am playing with a cotroller and not keyboard and mouse. I'm attempting the pacifist playthrough and not eating anyone which has upped the challenge a bit as the combat can be relatively easy if you indulge in blood.

If you enjoy third person action RPG/action/adventure games and you like vampires, this is a great game to pick up.

So far so good. It's exactly what I was expecting it to be and what I wanted.

Ignoring the launch day hiccups (which most online games have) I've been having fun playing. Haven't wandered into the DZ yet (I did venture there during beta and spent most of my time there) as my inner completionist has kicked in and I've been clearing out each area doing all possible objectives.

The combat is your standard cover shooter fare with rpg elements thrown into the mix, but it's done well and is enjoyable. You can mix up your gameplay based on which weapons/skills you pick which allows for different approaches. (I've opted for Assault rifle + Sniper rifle to 1 shot trash mobs from a distance and then open up with the assault rifle if any get too close)

The loot system is familiar if you've played any modern game with arpg or mmorpg loot systems. So far I've found the loot system to be rewarding enough, but still require some work. I wasn't immediately decked out in rare gear and the few pieces I have I was either lucky or bought from the vendor after getting enough credits.

Overall the game is familiar, yet fun. Nothing revolutionary, but still good.

Regarding performance, I do have a pretty beefy machine:
- Intel i7-6700K
- Gigabyte GA-Z170X-Gaming 5 MB
- 16GB 3200MHz DDR4
- Galax 6GB GeForce GTX 980 Ti Hall Of Fame edition
With the above setup and most settings turned up to ultra/high I'm getting fps in the area of 80 - 144 depending on what's going on, but I've had no dips below 80 and no performance issues.

Yes, there was a slight graphical downgrade, but it's definitely not a terrible looking game if graphics are important and definitely not a reason not to get the game.

I would recommend giving the game a shot.
