Balatro deserves being game of the year 2024 for perfect implementation of such simple concept into such excellent and addictive game-play loop while not creating too much sense of repetitiveness. It's impact on both casual and hardcore communities also a strong indicator of its success.

A Unique and fun combination of roguelike and city builder. Early access but active developer frequently updating and informing with roadmap. A good even now but has potential to be a great game in future.

A puzzle game with incredible creartivity. Main mechanic of the gmae really unique and well thought. Puzzles offer long time fun and maybe some headaches :p

A lighthearted but immensely deep tactical RPG with a touch of roguelite. Charming art style, writing and music Lots of replayability thanks to different periodic challanges, achievements and collectables. Received tons of content and love after its release. Active and nice developer. Well worth its price.

One of Paradox Interactives' "Grand Strategy" games. This one takes place in medieval era. You can think of this as a medival The Sims. Much much more detail oriented than your basic RTS games or even 4X games. You will spent your time more on diplomacy and management than fighting. You could spent years without anything interesting happening. You might dislike it if you are looking for constant action and not a slow pace game.
Be warned that this game would not be a complete experience without tons of dlc. Be ready to spent much on this game if it interests you.
Lastly modding community of this game also deserves a praise. You can well made mods for lots of settings like; Game of Thrones, Warhammer, Lord of the Rings. Game of Thrones might even be the best Game of Thrones game on the market.

Best alternative to the dwarf fortress. Sci-fi and post apocalyptic elements makes it more interterting. Updated regularly and satisfactorly. Basic but clear art style.

Darkest Dungeon is Turn-Based Tactical RPG. Its tactical side is somewhat simplistic but very creative. In fact whole game is oozing with creativity. Lots of fresh ideas. Game could be difficult for first couple of times, but it is expected to lose some runs until you learn. "Losing is fun". Game's atmosphere which is created by its art style, concept and narration is even enough to jusify buying this game.
