After 24 years, this amazing gem of a game once again resurfaces.

Inner Worlds is a fantastic, classic DOS gaming at it's peak - side-scrolling action platformer, with puzzle solving and combat. Combine that with gorgeous pixelart that holds up fantastically after all these years, a wonderful and memorable soundtrack and you get a wonderful little package.

It's a great concept - you play Nikita, who is able to transform into a wolf, with both forms of the character providing different abilities, solving different encounters all to destroy Gralob in this gloomy and dark world. There's inventory management which nicely ties into the RPG-esque system where Nikita get stronger, faster and more well-armed every level, with certain permanent unlocks throughout your playthrough. Certain items can be combined together; certain items you'll carry around just for puzzle-solving.

It can get very challenging towards the end, but as a childhood classic I highly recommend it.

Note that this is not a port, but runs in DosBox, which is perfectly acceptable.

If you're looking for something that is not trying it's hardest to have a "gimmick" to be original and instead aims for being a very good and competent platformer for all ages - just get it. It's got very simple mechanics, yet level and enemy designs are so varied, it never feels repetetive.
It's a very good game to sit down and relax after a hard day's work. I'd recommend it in a heartbeat.

25 minutes to beat the game. If you can call it a game, there is no gameplay to speak of. Looks like a point'n'click adventure game but it's completely not. You just walk from point A to B and stuff happens and then the game ends. Sure, it's pretty, the music's nice but... There's basically no gameplay.

I guess if you liked Dear Esther you might like this, but... nah.

It's bad, it's all you need to know. Sexist, brutal, boring, repetetive.
I've played worse games though.

If you want to be a game developer - it's a must buy, it's something you can study,
how simple game design decisions can ruin a whole experience. Learn on mistakes.

Unless you want to know a bit more, I made a video about this:

This game is... something. It's actually not a game. OR IS IT? You never know.
But yes, it's one of the best, if not the best, narrative experiences I have ever had.
It's at times really deep, sometimes completely crazy off the hook and sometimes really brutal.
Would recommend.

The best ending is the broom closet ending.

I also made a video about it!

A fun, challenging and entertaining hardcore platformer with sick artstyle, and a badass electronic soundtrack. What there is not to love? Yes, some levels will make you smash your/keyboard controller, but almost every one of them is doable, i just happen to suck.

I also happen to have made a video about it:
