I got this game by grabbing a cheap skin during the developer preview. I wouldn't pay $20 for it; it's not a product, it's a donation to Facepunch.

I loved Garry's Mod, but this "product" is utter garbage. And no, I don't think that will change in a year or so. The problem isn't even the optimization, bugs, or jank -- that’s expected, and I have a beefy PC to hold the line anyway.

The problem is: THERE IS NO F-ING CONTENT IN THIS GAME.

Garry's Mod wasn't great just because of Garry or the Source Engine; its greatness was built on Half-Life 2, CS:S, and TF2 assets. All you needed to have fun was a solid Sandbox gamemode with a ton of assets from those games and community addons.

The Sandbox mode in this "product" is straight-up dogwater. It's basic and empty.

I used to own several Garry's Mod servers. Most of that is gone now, so I can't prove much, but you'll have to trust me on this one.

Developing in S&box is not fun. It feels like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥ version of Unity. I don't want Unity. I want to take a base gamemode, throw a bunch of stuff together, tape it up with some basic Lua, and run a server for people to play on.

I became a software developer because of Garry's Mod. It was so easy to start scripting. How many people will experience something similar with S&box? Not many, I'd guess, because it's tailored to experienced developers, not newbies.

With all that said, there should be a GMod 2 with a more capable engine and better fidelity...
But this ain't it, folks.

I loved the first game. I wanted to love this one, too. But the worldbuilding in this game makes no sense. Far Cry mechanics are not helping it either. Maybe just not my cup of tea.

Dissapointed. I guess I am a speedrunner now.

UPD: Performance got better with the latest update. Although multiplayer problems still persist, I hope they will be fixed in the future.
The game is OK, but I can't recommend it unless you have a top-tier PC or buying it out of sale. The performance is horrible. Also, it is rough around the edges in cooperative mode - sync bugs, bad player animations, some quests appear broken, etc.

No oversaturated graphics, smooth FPS, nice recoil pattern, and great hitreg. Why CS2 even exists?

Good stuff.

Absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. Do not buy.
