Finally, cooperative battle royale type game with dope theming. Dark souls combat makes it better, though it's definitely not really a souls game anymore. TOO FAST. Love it.

In spite of all the greed from CA with the DLC and poor maintenance, it's still pretty good. You may be frustrated with some of the mechanics, but if a fantasy total war sounds like a good time, it is.

Took me 1000 hours to post positively, so keep that in mind. Total War: Warhammer II may be a better option for a less buggy and tight experience, but this one maxes out the content and features.

Physics are not incredible. Also seconding the lack of support for bongo controllers. Lame.

Haven't finished, but I figured I'd throw in my experience relating to performance:

It's been fine. It doesn't run great for how last gen it looks but I've only had a really bad stutter once when I was running other heavy cpu tasks and only crashed a lot on a certain snaily boss.

Beyond that, it's definitely a recommended title.

There's a lot to review here, and I come from the position of someone who's played previous Monster Hunter games, but this a is an absolute masterpiece. Graphics and environments are gorgeous, combat is deep (though punishing). It's got some room for improvement, but I never thought I'd see Monster Hunter like this.

A great total war game, loads of content, and still being updated. Somewhat pricey with all the DLC, and there's a 3rd one coming sometime in the future.
Some people may not like how wacky and crazy the stats and abilities get, which makes it a big departure from the original total war feel.

Great game, not as good as SotN or other greatest metroidvanias, and still missing features, but I couldn't stop 'till I beat it. Can't wait for Co-op.

If you loved FInal Fantasy Tactics, you'll probably like this one (Especially if you enjoyed the Advanced series).

That said, this is pretty much a generic Walmart brand FFT/A. The design and story are original enough, while the gameplay is pretty closely copied from the originals. Everything else is just a little lesser than FFT. Having said that, it's absolutely incredible that a team of TWO made this game. It doesn't make the game any better, but damn if it doesn't make it impressive.

Music? Not as good, and not as many tracks.
Art? Higher fidelity, but the design isn't quite as refined.
Story? A little more straightforward (so far), but not too bad.
Visuals? Fewer animations, and generally not as good. Not many iconic characters, but honestly how do you compete with Final Fantasy?
Gameplay? This may actually be equivalent to the original, and probably what makes it engaging. A little simpler, but more options and depth overall. Most simplifications come from the FFTA games anyways.
Classes? About the same as the original, progression works like the original, but the classes themselves are more inspired by the Advanced FFT games. Another strong point of the game however.
Replayability? Multiple difficulties! A reasonable amount of secrets as well, though a bit less than what the original games had.
Technicals? Pretty good options, runs well on lesser hardware, and great controller support. Even supports mouse+keyboard!

Great music, retro style, fun, replayable. Maybe you won't get 1000 hours but I love this game.

Multiplayer may be the most valid complaint, but consider that it was programmed by one guy primarily. It's a miracle there's online play at all. Port forwarding is not difficult and necessary for tons of games, though some of the bugs are pretty bad. Uncommon though, and almost unheard of on a good connection. LAN play is very good.

I nitpick on what I would like to see changed but the game is cheap and is a great value even at full price.
