The devs walked back their requirement for people to link a PSN account. The game is still good, regardless of horrid publisher choices.

Absolutely dreadful performance, and now Steam won't accept my request for refund despite only having played for around 30 minutes, citing my total Elite Dangerous playtime as the reason. What a waste of money.

I've been having a fantastic time with the game. I played the first game to death, and while this borrows a lot of themes from the prequel (obviously) it feels like a different game. Not in a bad way, mind. I'm enjoying it.

It's lacking a couple of QoL things but their first patch fixed some of them, and I've no doubt future patches will do the same.

Basically, try not to compare this game to the first one, they're fundamentally different. It's been how many years, after all?

Stellaris is, quite simply, a wonderful example of space strategy done right. The world and events that happen really immerse you in the game. It has some room to improve, as all games do, but overall it's fantastic.
