The game loop gets stale quickly.

This game is a masterpiece. For best results play it with friends and be old enough to have played Half Life.

This game is amazing. Appreciating it, however, basically requires that:

- you've played and enjoyed Elden Ring,
- you're up for more challenge,
- you understand it is not just a bite-sized randomized Elden Ring,
- you understand that learning to move quickly and choose your targets wisely in order to loot and level up efficiently is required for success,
- you have 2 friends who also want to play.

If these points are all true, you probably already own and love the game.

They lean hard into spectacle here, and it's mostly successful. More frenetic than 2016, less-so than Eternal -- might be more varied than Eternal though. It might be a good compromise for those who bounced off Eternal. I loved Eternal and did not expect to like this one more, but I very well might.

Gameplay that deviates from the normal, on-foot, gun-in-hand variety is gimmicky but fun in small doses. It's exciting that they're still experimenting enough that I am left wondering where they'll take this with the next game.

Bottom line: It's fast. It's fun. The story is still dumb to the point where I wish it wasn't there at all. But you know, you can shield bash into monsters and they explode, so, it's forgiven. Veterans of the series should that many of us are finding this one to be a bit easier. Nightmare is the new Ultra Violence. Rip and tear accordingly.

This game is tremendously fun. It reminds me of playing LucasArt's Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis, except the combat is actually good this time.

This game is surprisingly deep while being chock full of retro charm.
