This game is trash.

So, as with most games, your mainstream experience is going to be where the mass of people play - your populated servers, official servers, etc.

Even if you're playing this 'co-op' game, with friends, and you all put in collectively ~60 hours of work, by day 2 of any "wipe" you will be completely outclassed by the clans of 6-10 people who are running helicopters and oil rig for the last 16 hours straight. In other words, they can completely wipe you and your bases from the map regardless of your pretty significant effort of ~60 hours between you and 2-3 of your closest friends efforts going into day 2.

But that's not the main reason the game sucks. The game sucks because it has no end game. Similar to my palworld review, this game has not created a normal end-game experience. It should not be that everyone locks themselves in their 10 story bases and snipe everyone who walks by on day 2. That is not an end-game that is a ankle monitor simulator. The game does not reward the groups that want to actually play the game. As in, you're going to spend 10 hours crafting lets say a dozen kits but you're going to lose all said kits to people camping their rust houses instead of actually going out and roaming.

That's not an end-game, this game has no end-game. It's impossible to actually experience the content of the game without getting your ♥♥♥♥ pushed in from 400 people who are running in 6, or 10, or 20 man groups. And usually, they're unemployed foreigners who have maybe only dated one person in their whole life (their cousin).
And instead of Facepunch developing a proper end-game for a game that's been out for 10 years, they've decided the only thing that's important to them is pushing out DLC and skins that do not actually change the way the game plays. Try going farm 200-300 high quality to run 1 battering ram while you get C4 raided by the giant russian clan next to you.

This game is a waste of your time, please do literally anything else (crypto trading, reading a book, bicycling, casual jogs around the park, dogsitting, people watching, etc.)

1.) Game is very stale - same dungeons, same bosses, low variety in the land, meaningless exploration
2.) Can't retrieve body if you die in an area that's hard to get your body back. For example, end game oil rig. The enemies bug out, the AA shoots down your 5 star jetragon (best flight pal in the game) in 0.05 seconds, all the enemies one shot you before you pick up your body, you're basically super screwed and forced to grind for another 5 hours to build another set of armor to retrieve your old armor. that's completely ridiculous and missing from any other game i can think of.
3.) Levelling impacts your ability to mine, fight, etc. in other words, 2 people, one lvl 60 and one lvl 49 with the same equipment and same stats do drastically different in mining, fighting, etc. which is completely stupid. it basically forces everyone on the server to grind equally long and there's no benefit to having a productive base or a base nanny unlike ANY other survival game.
4.) Game is NOT fun past lvl 40, becomes approximately 10,000% more grindy. You'd have to spend many, many, many hours most AFK letting your base farm mats for you to be able to go out and have 1 hour of fun. in other words, you have to grind 15 hours to play 1 hour and that is not a good thought out end game. That's just stupid.
5.) Technology points. The game does not give you enough Technology points to research everything. Most other games give you enough Technology points to research everything by end level. This game does not. In fact, this game will force you to breed a pal called Lyleen for 70 hours straight and kill 5,000 of them to get enough technology points to research everything. Again, similar to point #4, this game's end game is not well thought out at all, in fact, it resembles the mind of an infant.
