Seriously I think I'm done with this game. Cannot recommend it all all, especially since you can play Path of Exile for free.

The animations are clunky, the sound design is annoying and the gunplay does not feel satisfying at all. Also the gameplay loop is not really finished at all, loads of useless items, lacking crafting options and repetitive gameplay. Maybe this game will be a nice game some day, I think the dev actually cares and will probably improve a lot but right now I cannot really recommend the game. I'd say the price tag is okay but I honestly have played far better games for less.

Also to be fair to the people in the comments of this review: I initially complained about the bomber mechanic (that still does not give any value to the gameplay imo) turns out I was dealing with a (known) bug that canceled the sounds of the bomber in all ways.

The sound design is peak, and the gameplay is great. The minor issues the game has, get fixed rather fast so I'm confident I won't be able to complain about much within a few months.

For me, the game is mostly "Wheeeeee!". It's even more "Wheeeeee!" than any other game I have ever played in my 25 year long gaming life. But it's also plenty of "Whooooo." because the story is really encaptivating and really gets one emotionally invested. I would say it's a perfect "WheeeeeWhoooWheeeeWhooo!" experience, and maybe my favourite game ever.

Early Access Review
I totally missed the hype for the game somehow but found it on the Steam starting page and gave it a try. The game is great fun, every mechanic feels thought through and a lot of stuff actually has a great depth to it. The dev is really transparent and active, so the future for the game seems to be bright.

ich hab mir ehrlich was anderes vorgestellt. Man muss bis ins kleinste Detail mikro-managen um die Effizienz der eigenen Produktion zu steigern, irgendetwas neues zu bauen löst enormen Stress aus weil es sehr wahrscheinlich ist, dass es die Ökonomie zerlegt. Die eigenen Schiffe sind komplett verblödet, die fahren einfach in feindliche Häfen rein wenn die auf einer alten Handelsroute liegen, teilweise habe ich auch schon eigene Schiffe dabei beobachtet wie sie sich von komplett luschigen Nussschalen haben zerlegen lassen, weil sie aus irgendeinem Grund nicht zurückschießen obwohl ihre Einstellung "Balanced" ("Fights until danger is over but does not chase ships") ist. Die KI ist einem Meilen voraus, an ihren Inseln kann man sich aber nicht wirklich orientieren, der Anblick der sich einem da bietet erklärt ihre Stärke oftmals nicht.
Das die Ingame-Meldungen keine Priorität zu haben scheinen ist auch super geil. Ich habe mich grade dazu entschlossen diese Review zu schreiben, nachdem mein Battle-Cruiser und seine Begleitschiffe allesamt versenkt wurden. Wovon? Keine Ahnung, hab's nicht mitbekommen weil man natürlich für jeden Furz Meldungen kriegt sobald man im Krieg ist.
Handelsrouten sind auch kompletter Müll, da ist einmal ein Lager voll und obwohl man die Option "schmeiß es in den Hafen" an hat klappt das irgendwie nicht sondern am Ende des Tages fährt plötzlich ein Schiff von einem nur noch ein einziges Gut hin und her ohne es jemals zu entladen. Da kriegt man dann keine Meldung die Route hätte ein Issue oder so.
Ich verstehe auch nicht, warum Produktionsstätten eine eigene Verteilungsreichweite haben wenn es doch Lagerhäuser gibt. Das führt letztlich dazu, dass von der KI der ineffizienteste Weg überhaupt gewählt wird wenn es um die Güterverteilung geht. Man muss die Produktionsketten aktiv trennen, was ja super sinnig ist, damit diese Effizienzfallen nicht entstehen können.

Im Endeffekt muss ich sagen: Ich hatte mir eigentlich mehr Städtebausimulator und weniger Mikromanage-Schwitzersession erhofft.

Well, currently I don't feel like anything one does in this game has any purpose. There is not really a reason to farm currency (which is tedious btw) because crafting is dumbed down in this game. The endgame itself does not hold anything interesting, the whole endgame system itself is far inferior to POE1s system aswell. Not many builds to aspire to, since there are only a few viable builds which funnily enough are really op. I hope the game will change for the better. POE1 is the far better game now, and I only wanted POE2 to be the modernized version of POE1. To make the dev process transparent, I will keep my 0.1 Review below.

My 0.1 review:
Don't get me wrong, it's a good game so far I guess but if you expect something similar to POE1 you'll be disappointed. It's more like POE combined with Elden Ring. The game is beautiful, the soundtrack is great, the overall work they have done is great. But it's so boring for me, I play ARPGs for fast fun gameplay and having to hit every single mob 2x with your skill because you deal no damage at all, over and over again, is just really boring. The new skill system feels way more restrictive aswell, as if they wished to control player actions during the campaign.
