I don't know why this game is so underrated. It has good worldbuilding, a really good story, an extremely polished sense of aesthetics (I abosolutely love the art direction here), great graphics courtesy Unreal Engine 3, a kickass soundtrack, fun and engaging (if a bit simple, but eh, can't have everything) combat, and a really good message behind it all.

It's a linear narrative with no choice, yes, but I think it's welcome because it tells a good story and it's different from all the huge disconnected insipid open world games with barely any substance that seem to be popping up everywhere. Some of the moments in this game just made me go "wow" beacuse of the combination of narrative, cinematography, art direction, graphics, and soundtrack.

I've actually done this game a couple of times, still hasn't gotten old.

Pros (apart from the above):
* I like how the combat isn't just about beating up the baddies with max damage. You have to regen your health and decrease the cooldown of your powers too, and in many bossfights it's more about staying alive and using your powers than just mashing X and Y.
* The level design is top notch, both aesthetically and in terms of gameplay. You have an interesting system of these hovering snapshot things which reval the location of powerups, you really have to explore the levels to find them.
* The game is a fun challenge in Memory Hunter mode (the most difficult one) without being impossibly difficult or unfair.

Cons:
* Occasional bugs with wayfinding and interaction with objects (leaping off into thin air, not climbing a ladder even though it's right in front, etc). These are extremely minor though, and only show up occasionally.
* Performance issues with level streaming and stuff (occasional hiccups during the game). It would tend to bork the cinematics too a bit, which was a downer, but nowhere near a dealbreaker.
* Core combat could be improved a bit I gues, but it's okay and it fits.

9/10. Highly recommended.
