If you're a original Gothic fan, this is a completely different game that simply lifts some of the story.
You'd be better off with a HD retexture of the original.

If you have no attachment to the Gothic series, this game needs work.
Combat is abysmal, seems like a bad port intended for console peasants. Very much walk a few steps, then another cutscene takes over. MC talks way too much like they're trying to fill dead air, killing moments that could be suspenseful. Many of the mechanics like climbing and "lockpicking" are simple one button affairs that auto-succeed. Forced cutscene fights are annoying as well for an open-world. You should have the option to avoid and level up or seek better equipment for tough fights. I have a very fast system, but still have to bring it down to 1080p on lowest settings and still get lag. Tons of QOL issues, but I will give the benefit that those will be improved by launch.

In conclusion, although there are issues, they are fixable. The game is probably aiming for 2021 release to mark 20 year anniversary of the original. I hope they take the time to fix all the issues, even if that pushes the release back. Also, the devs should probably at least play the original game as they are missing most of what is good about it.

Currently best running FPSlasher game. Still has server lag spikes, and takes up too many system resources for the visual quality. Blocks are purely no-skill timing based. Attacks are stupid mouse direction based system that make performing complex attacks very unintuitive, seems more designed for console peasants. Most objective maps are highly imbalanced on certain capture points. Decent enough weapon balance, Lots of customization though can be abused to hide armor type you're wearing. Includes tons of face, hair, and beard options though there are no competitive builds that don't have at least level 1 head armor. Hair only shows if not wearing head armor. Too many horse issues to get into. Very generic setting with no lore. Lazy research: no machicolations on walls that artistically have them, but are filled in. Salty player base, less lighthearted "Dost thou even hoist?" and more "F*** you [homophobic slur] [racial slur]". Game has been out for a while and still maybe 10% of players participate in objective, everyone else attacks the first thing they see until one or both is dead, then repeat. Devs have made improvements since launch such as maps, quality of life, new modes like Duel & Invasion(Chiv Obj Mode).

-Only game in town until Chivalry 2 releases

Great underdark campaign. It's like Baldur's Gate with lower graphics. Some quests seem too vague and could use a little better directions.

Awesome top-down shooter. Good enemy variety and challenge, though I would have liked a few more types of traps to deal with. Some of the game is a bit tacky like when a random face appears or bats fly across the screen, but I think it adds to its charm.

The Ball centeres around a large sphere that you can manipulate with a gravity gun like device. Needless to say it's a ton of fun. Most of the game is driven by solving puzzels with zombie fights inbetween. You have no weapons other than the ball, so this can make things tricky in a good way. There is also lore to be found that reveals secrets about The Ball and what happened to the ancient civilization that left the ruins the game takes place in.

Cool little story that is told through the thoughts of the charater you're playing. You get to explore the island on a fairly linear path with a few forks here and there. Some people may find the pace slow, as you can only walk, but I felt it fit well with the style of the game. I do recommend this game, but I suggest you wait for it to go on sale. It's a little too much for only an hour or so of gameplay.

Great story with some awesome unique puzzels and gameplay elements. There is one moment in paticular where you have to escape being tied up that was well executed. The enemy AI and variety leaves a lot to be desired and you get a ton of ammo, so its more action/adventure than survival horror. There was never a dull moment in the plot all the way through and I can't wait for the next installment!

Great new take on bullet hell. The gameplay and story are great with the ability to custimize your ships, weapons, and other stats depending on how you want to play. I found the adventure mode controls to be imprecise when trying to complete some of the jumping sequences, but with no penelty for falling to your death, it wasen't too annoying. Some really awesome moments happened in adventure like when you get to drive the cars and do flips.

Great adventure where you draw yourself, draw the person you're going to save, then the tools need to do so. Simple fun gameplay that keeps you wanting more. Drawing the initial characters was one of the highlights of the game and I would have liked to see more of that in some form. Not sure of many other games where you can go on an epic adventure to save Alyson Hannigan (The person I drew to save).

Fantastic game that starts you off as a few pixels and takes you though the evolution of RPG/Adventure games. Great pacing and sence of comedy throughout with many tropes of the genre. My only complaint would be I would have liked more time in certain styles of gameplay. Some you play large portions of the game and other just one area. I would also recomend trying the card based mini-game. It comes in late game and has no real bearing on the main quest, but I fould to be quite good.
