Bought the game on release and played for nearly a year now (200+ hours, Gold rank). I was fine with lackluster single-player/offline content because I love fighting games and am happy with multiplayer.

After too many laggy matches, I've pretty much given up on the game because it's clear it's not improving. It takes a whole minute to find a match, only a third of those found matches actually connect, about a fifth of those never start, and half the started matches are unplayable because of lag. Sometimes it's apparent both players are lagging so we just sit around waiting for conditions to improve (rarely happens) and sometimes it's clearly asynchronous (esp. against PS4 players) because I have multiple-second input delay while they're just practicing combos on me. I just sit there waiting for the match to end because any attempt to play in the lag would just frustrate me. I live in an area with plenty of players, have good internet, and it boggles me when the online experience is this bad.

This was in December, when the game has been out for 10 months. It was in beta for almost half a year before that and yet the online experience has only gotten worse. I won't even get started on the single player content...

The mechanics are fun and I really hoped the game would be a success so it's honestly depressing that I can't recommend the game. The only reasons I can find to play this game again are if a friend came over, I found it at an arcade (no arcade version...), or I went to locals. I bought the game because they promised a good online experience though, so I feel misled as they clearly care more about the offline pro scene than the rest of their fan base.
