As a big fan of the first two games I was worried when I heard Larian was making the third game. I was hoping for a while that Bioware or even Beamdog would make it. However, Larian knocked this one out of the park! This game is so much fun I had to rush home from work everyday to play it. The gameplay and storyline are top notch. I didnt know they could still make games this good.
This is a complete game. Its not divided into seperate parts you have to buy or pay to play in any way. You buy the game once and you get hours and hours of gameplay and fun. (Although Im now hoping Larian will make expansions and a sequel.)
This is probably the best CRPG ever made. It sets a new standard. 10/10

This game was the beginning of the end for Total War.

This game is just feels empty. - The campaign is tedious and boring. There are no interesting features or mechanics at all. The whole campaign is building armys and attacking over and over with zero strategy!

-Gone are the interesting buildings and units. How small are these settlements that only have room for 4 or 6 buildings? Seriously? Rome is only big enough for 6 buildings!? Its like the devs were too lazy to create more mechanics and features so they limited the amount and types of buildings!

-The recruitment system dosnt make sense. (spamming elite units and building an elite army of nobles (who must train for many years) in a couple turns?)

-Generals are a dime a dozen. They have no interesting traits or ancillaries at all. You just dont care about them because none of them are unique.

-The battles are no longer long drawn out and brutal melee grinds like in the days of Med 2, instead we get ants having sex (or muppets having sex if you zoom in) and occasionaly soldiers morphing into doormats or an arcade like spin and decapitation for flair on the battlefield? The pin point control and response of your units with excellent feel is long gone.

-The warscape enigine this game uses (built for empire total war ffs!) is completely unrealistic at simulating combat! The soldiers just float and shift around swinging their weapons randomly and there are no charge impacts whatsoever! CA keeps using it because they are too lazy to develop a new engine! The Rome 1 engine is superior in every way!

-Siege battles are a joke. Gone are the tactical and strategic battles of attrition with massive castles and stone walls of yesterday. Now we get buggy, half assed wood mazes with some cheese in the center.

-I started an Averni campaign in early September and 40 truns in I try to recruit a general only to find that all the cannidates are women! Women have no place in war! (They fight like girls!)

TBH I want to see CA burn to the ground for following up my beloved Medieval 2 with this pile of crap and the piles of crap that have followed it to this day. They just dont care about making good games any more, they care about your money.

This is no strategy game! This is a watered down, G rated, family friendly, something for everyone, pay to play arcade game. Stay away!

This is my first time playing this game as I did not play the orginal and I have not had much experience with Dungeons & Dragons before this game except watching one of my uncles games as a small boy (this game is based in the world of 2nd edition dungeons and dragons and has the same gameplay rules). I can say despite my inexpirence I was quickly sucked into the gameplay exploring the Sword Coast. You start by creating a character as you would in D&D and you begin your adventure. The character creation options are limitless as you can be a Fighter/thief/paladin/mage/sorcerer/druid/cleric...etc and roll your own character stats. You can even be several character types as you can dual class or multiclass (a fighter/mage or a fighter/mage/thief...etc).

The game has so much depth you can play for hours getting sucked into the story and quests all the while learning new spells, leveling up, and finding magic weapons and loot. You really have to put thought into developing your character and talking to NPCs as your conversation responses direct certain outcomes. You lead a team of up to 6 characters and work your way through the Sword Coast going on quests and mini quests and fighting all manner of D&D creatures. I feel I have really missed out on this game not playing it when I was younger but I am really enjoying it now. This is hours of addicting intense gameplay with a ton of features and options unmatched by any game now a days. You can even export your character and load it up in the sequels (siege of dragonspear/Baldurs gate 2) to continue where u left off in the previous game, which I look forward to doing. This is an excellent older PC game from a time of difficult thought provoking gameplay. It has a nice old school feel and because the quality is there it seems timeless. I recommend you play this game. 9/10

Best Total War game hands down, no argument. Best game of all time? Quite possibly. Medieval Warfare with pitch battles, full siege battles, and an epic campaign with unlimited replayability! Has a metric ton of mods that add thousands of hours of replay value. Has a great community of friends who have stood the test of time and would welcome you. I have nearly 2000 hours in-game and its still not getting old. Newer total war games dont even come close to this masterpiece. This game is a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ work of art any strategy gamer, total war fan, medieval enthusiast, or any somewhat intelligent human being can enjoy. This is the game every other video game in the world should be compared to as a standard of the highest quality video game experience. 10/10
